I promised Ryan that once we got a dog...the fosters would stop because we are full. Well, Alaska (my foster kitty) should be getting adopted this next weekend (says the kitty rescue ladies), so hopefully that does happen so I have more free-time for foster rats.

Ugh, I feel so bad. I told Ryan no more once the doggie came, but he completely understands this one and is being such a trooper and a great fiancee :). He knows that "foster" only means "keep for a little while". Uhhh....Benson turned out to be a "long term"....but he blends right in with my crew, so he doesn't count...lol! In fact, I told Ryan about this situation and he was very calm and relaxed about it and asked when the rats are getting here!

Anyway, this poor girl (named Miranda) has a phsyco mother who stole her rats from her and left the poor girl horrified and wondering where her rats went....the mother wasn't giving any information besides, "they went to a school."

Miranda has been searching for her loved pet rats for a month, she finally found them today. They were dumped at the AZ Humane Society because one of them bit a 5 year old girl....DUUUHH...rats aren't for children!

Anyway, RIP to one of her ratties....she probably died of the intense AZ heat while being abandoned. Her other three rats are just fine, but shooken up.

I relate to Miranda because I have a phsyco mother who used to get me pets as a kid and then tell me she found them a new home while I went to my dad's house for the weekend. I feel horrible for Miranda....she can't do anything about it...she is forced to live with her mother...she has no one to help her.

I offered to take her three rats (two females and a neutered male - 1 years old) until she could find them a permanent home. Right now she had to sneak them into her house and hide them in her closet until she can round up gas money to get them to me (she lives about 130 miles away in PHX).

Along with the rats, she is going to bring their Ferret Nation 141 cage along and we are going to attach it to the top of my FN141, so it won't take up extra space in the animal room. She is also bringing along their toys, hammocks, food, ect. She will pay for vet care, if needed.

I am such a sucker. I am the only one who can offer them a home until a forever home can be found. There are other AZ members on the rat board, but they can't offer a home...just transport help to my house.

I have to do this for Miranda too....I know how horribly she is suffering. I wish I could offer her a home, as well....the poor girl :(.

You can read the horrifying story and how frantic every one on the boards was....

Who could do that to a pony? Oh my gosh. Sick people :grumpy:. They must have had to really tie that horse down and he must have put up a struggle, since horses are flighty....but when in pain....ugh, man.

Gooooooooo aussie guyyy!

Yep - you're a sucker.....but a good one. I think its great you're doing this....especially since you love ratties so much.

Of course...you know we'll want pictures - right?

Once you foster everything changes and the phrase "no more fosters" WILL be stated over and over... as you prepare to take another in.

Thanks, you guys :biggrin2:! I guess the neutered male is a biter and aggressive....so much for the neuter working that out of him :p.

Ehhh...every time I say "no more fosters"....something comes up where I have to take them in.

Ohh...Miranda is a high school senior and she almost has her associates in science. Once she graduates HS and has her associates, she will be moving to Minnesota (I think she said?) for horsie school. So, at least she will be getting away from her mother (who has one too many things wrong with her in the head).

OMG! Why would someone do that? Did they bring her in then afterwards? knowing the vet would see it?

We had the "no more" pet rule recently........ and I got Diesel and Luke got Catalina...... :biggrin2:

ditto:biggrin2:!(esp. about the pics...........:D)

ETA: i read the post on goose moose. that's awful! and that mother should not be any where near a three week old baby......................:X.

The ratties are being brought to me this Saturday at 8:30am (AZ time). The grandparents don't want the rats at their house for any longer, so they want them gone early Saturday morning. Miranda and her grandma are making the trip up here to Prescott, they have to leave at 5:30am!

<rant>
So, after the rats get here...we mod. the FN141 on top of mine, decorate, talk, ect...then Miranda will leave....then Benson has a vet appt. at 10am because his right blind eye is a tad swollen looking (I am at a loss what to do next....his eye is not getting better). I also have to see about getting Revolution for Sammy (doggie)...then after the vet we have to bring Ben home...then take Alaska (my foster kitty) to PetSmart to *hopefully* get adopted.

Aghhh. So much animal stuff going on the past 2 weekends...I am drained, lol! I hope Alaska finds her forever home....three crazy kitties and a nutso dog running around our house is insane....lol!

I'm going to be definitely wearing myself thin with 4 bunnies, 6 ratties, 2 kitties (3 if Alaska doesn't get adopted), 1 doggie, and Ryan....lol. Phew....why can't just two of each ever be enough :p?

I got my foster ratties this morning! Miranda was a total sweetie and so was her grandma.

The ratties are settling in well! I need to sew more hammocks, which means a trip to Joann's for fabric, but money is low right now...so I will need to wait to do that until this next Thursday.

The girlies are "Melanie" and "Mossimo". The neutered male is "Chewie". Chewie is a biter, but pancakes to the cage floor for pets...he is a lover, but just likes to act like a tough guy!

I really like Melanie. You guys should see her HUGE ears, oh my gosh! The girls are sooo tiny compaired to my big boys and Chewie.

Pictures will probably come tomorrow :biggrin2:!

Poor Miranda! I fear for what life will be like for her baby brother :( I'm glad you were able to take the three ratlings in. I wonder how long they'll be with you. Can't wait to see pictures of them! I'll bet the little girlies are so cute, I miss my babies... They were all tiny ones and even my boy, Colby, was small compared to other males!

I know, Shiloh...I wonder the same thing :?.

Here are two pictures that I snapped last night. They were sleeping in their igloo, so I only caught Chewie and Melanie. Chew is the big guy and Mel is the girlie with the HUGE ears!

I'll snap more pictures later, especially of how huge Mel's ears are compared to her body. I'll get some of Mossi, too. I bet these girlie ratties will be sooo hard to photograph...they are all over the place!

you want two boy friends!?!?!?!?

that being said:)P)

awww! they're so cute!

Picturessss :biggrin2:...

The top part of the FN (their cage). It is decorated very "boring" right now, as I didn't have time to make it super fun. I need to sew more hammocks and make/buy some fun toys.

These ratties are so much fun! The girlies are super fun to have around, as they are very hyper and the rat boys (including mine) are so laid back and sleepy all the time.

Aww :). The girlies are from an accidental litter Miranda had from her two ratties. Chew (the neutered male) was adopted by Miranda from some where (I forgot where).
