Hi, My names Sarah and I'm a massive animal lover

I have 4 budgies, 2 cats and 1 rabbit.

My rabbit is 4 years old, and she is a dwarf lop.
So far she has always been by her self, but I've been wanting to get her a friend.

I found a breeder who has an adult male she no longer has the space for and I'm going to adopt him :) He is a Mini lop and 12 months old and she said he is very friendly with other rabbits.

I am a little worried my rabbit (snowy) will be aggressive with him though so I need some tips and advice how to bond them.

I will be bringing him home tomorrow, but he will be in a seperate cage until he is neutered and then plus 2 weeks after that.

Eventually I would like them to share a cage, she lives outside and its a wooden hutch, attached to a big wire run so they can hop from the hutch into the run etc

sorry for rambling on :) will post some pictures of my current bunny and new one soon when i figure out how!

Hi! Welcome and congrats on your new addition. Neutering is the key to keeping bunnies in line, is your female fixed too? Separate cages near each other so they may smell and see each other in the safety of their own spots. Neutral ground is then recommended for face to face introduction. She may take to him nicely since he is younger and will be fixed. If she is not fixed you may run into problems with hormones and aggression coming from her.

Welcome to RO! Good for you for giving the Mr. a forever home. Good luck with the bonding process. I am in the middle of the same thing myself. Definitely takes time and patience, but things are going well. :D

thank you :)
Snowy is not fixed, but if I find that she is showing aggression its a possibilty I will get her fixed too.

So I plan on having them in separate cages, then also I have a run, that I can make into two parts so they can sniff each other and see each other but not be able to fight.. is that a good idea? to get used to each other.
then I could introduce them somewhere like the bathroom where neither of them have been?

thanks for the advice :) I'm going to pick him up today I'm very excited!!!

So cute and welcome!

Ever read the book The Watership Down? Fabulous fantasy book about, what else, rabbits!

If my son hadn't named Agnes I wanted a name from that book. Google the character list. There are some really cool names.

Welcome! :) Your new little guy is adorable!

One suggestion, wait longer than 2 weeks after he has been neutered. It is recommended to wait 8 weeks before letting a neutered male in with a non-spayed female.
