I have a New Zealand Buck, he is about a year old. He is suddenly starting to pull out some of his fur. When I put a doe in with him the other day, it took him a while to start to show interest in her.

females will pull fur for a nest/babies--however a male may just be shedding or have bugs/fleas,--as for interest in a female--make sure he is a he.??---sincerely james waller

could he be pulling fur out of boredom or nervous habit? I had a doe who would start pulling fur from the top of her front feet and legs and I wasn't sure why. When I was at a rabbit show I saw a rabbit with a similar problem and the judge said that the doe probably needed to be bred. I went home and bred our doe and she was fine after that...go figure :?
