I am very, very keen to get some French angoras and trying to locate them here in SA.
At the moment I am building some stairs up to my washlines to avoid using the dryer so much and I want to build an earthworm farm against them in the shade of a tree. I was thinking I could build a very nice outdoor hutch for them right there too somehow. But not with wire mesh as I have seen. I think that cruel. Maybe a cement floor with grass from the veld that I just sweep into the earthworms to clean up.
But I also want to build and indoor hutch on the verandah for very cold weather in winter. I am building with rocks and cement so it could be really cool for them in the summer heat. I know they sleep in the day. Just trying to figure how I can give them a fun spacious play space at night because I have real wildlife here.
I want them for their wool.....well also find them adorable....I once has a cute little grey rabbit that escaped under the fence..... I was so ignorant of their ways. With angoras you apparently gently comb out at certain times of the year ......so can't let them get mucky in soil but I know they love to run and jump around at night....
So you can see I still doing a lot of pondering about it all.
