Hello Friends! I am new to this forum. We have one little bun named Penny. She's all black and 5 months old. Waiting for her to turn 6 mo so our vet will spay her. Dove was our first, also all black and was adopted to us. She jumped into our hearts and, unfortunately, passed about 10 months later. She was only about 16 months old and I'm not sure what happened. It was quick and she didn't suffer, but those of us left behind did! Boy...loving these guys can be so painful.

We are thinking about adding another baby to our crew. Friends have a very tiny bun who needs a home but I'm not sure about it yet. I want Penny to be fixed, and I don't know if I'm up for the task of working on bonding them. Any advice?

Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to RO.:hearts Two bunnies will be grateful to have your love.

Be prepared that sp/eutered rabbits will determine who they like for companions, and that depends on each single's personality. There are bonding 101 links to get you started -- plus RO has a terrific Library section with great authors and participants.

Two are more fun than one.

I'm very sorry for your lose, but glad you're here on the forums!

I'd say, if it feels right in your heart, then go for it. Maybe Penny would like a friend? :)

Thanks for the nudges! I'm sure Pen would enjoy a friend and everything I've read says 2 are better together than one alone. Pen lives with 5 parrots in her room so she's not entirely alone, but ...

In my heart I feel another one on the way, and I want the best for Pen. Really it's just me, needingtime.Did I mention I have a husband and 2 daughters? One daughter is just like me...complete animal lover. The other is like her Dad...they're ok. Funny part is, my husband and that daughter are the reason we got a bird all those years ago. Now, those who started it..are not so interested. Ah well..my heart is mine and it will lead me.

Nice to be here!

Welcome Kberto and Penny!!

Thanks!
Two suggestions: buns of the opposite sex usually bond easiest, but two females are the most difficult (but of course, not impossible.) Also, make the bunnies' first several "dates" together a neutral place, preferably something slightly stressful for them both. (A car ride in large carrier together, a room of the house neither one is familiar with, etc.) They tend to snuggle up together when stressed...and will begin to regard each other as a comforting friend, rather than as a competitor. As the mom of more than a dozen buns....I say go for it!

Thanks - that all makes sense! The car ride may be best as Penny has been in every room! :)What I haven't been able to discover is if it's easier or more difficult to bond a baby bun and Penny. The babe is probably 10-12 weeks and Penny is 5 months. I appreciate your views and suggestions.

Thanks! I made my avatar. I will post pics when I have a moment or two to sit. Is it easy to do? Should I just post them in a topic reply?

Hello Everyone!
Hello from South Africa, I have no rabbits yet but have joined to learn so that I can get some French Angoras. I live on a small farm in a beautiful valley alongside the Crocodile River.
