worst part was, I called my boss at 6:30 in the morning (knowing he always showed up half an hour late 'cause he was worthless like that) to explain what had happened and that I would not be showing up for my shift at 3 pm. he insisted that I come in anyway! I reminded him that I was running a fever, had strep throat, was in the ER three hours ago and was on morphine and informed him that there was no way in hell I was coming in to work as a COOK at IHOP to stand in front of 400 degree grills all night potentially spreading strep throat around to everyone. I stopped just short of telling him to go f--- himself and hung up the phone.
oh god, I hope for your sake you don't get strep like I do. I had it once as a kid, got put on antibiotics, kept getting worse and had to go back in and get a shot of antibiotics. second time I got it I was 18 - same deal of continuing to get worse after starting antibiotics and having to go back in for a shot, except that time even the shot wasn't enough. I ended up waking my mom up at like 3 am the next morning to take me to the emergency room because I couldn't swallow at ALL and was dehydrated, hungry and exhausted. I got a shot of morphine, ANOTHER shot of antibiotics and a shot of something to make the morphine not make me nauseous. I was SO relieved when the morphine kicked in; I sat there and drank probably a quart of water before we even left the hospital.I always get shots for everything. It's kind of annoying, but I get sick so much and believe me I don't need the flu over what I already have. Today, my strep test revealed positive. And I have a bad inner ear infection. I mean, I REALLY don't need the flu.
