Ive had my bunny for about a year now with noproblems and I had to do a persuasive speech in class. So i did itabout how dogs drool rabbits rule. any hoot i need to ask a few ? firstis there any good places to get feed in PalmBeach Florida.Second i hav tried all sorts of beading knowing that cedar is not goodfor rabbits. Problem is the others are no good for me i am allergic anysuggestions. Its either save my bunny's health, or actuallybe able to cuddle with my bunny. Also what are some signs of hairblockage in the digestive track. Ive noticed shes pooping less andshowing less happy signs like binky, Im not shure whether its happyteeth grinding or pain still dont have a bearing on that actually idiscureged it when i first got her though she would hurt her self.

Don't know how helpful this is but - you can usually go to a feed orfam supply store and get some wood pellet bedding for like $5 for 30lbs. Woody Pet is a favorite here, but if you are me you canalso use a substitute. I just bought some Southern Stateswood pellet horse bedding for $4.49 for 30lbs. It smells likeplain wood and keeps the odor down. I was using Yesterday'sNews before this and liked it too.

With rabbits, you will eventually become a pooologist (study yourbunny's poos) daily. If the poos look like a string of pearls- with hair being the string, then that is usually a goodsign. Also, you should be concerned anytime they go off theirfeed. Try some fresh pineapple, cannedpumpkin, papaya tablets.

I'm sure others have even better suggestions (I only have 1 rabbit).

Hello and Welcome!

One of the local petstores uses CareFresh as the bedding andthe bunns love it. If you're looking for litter, Woody Pet would be mysuggestion.

As for finding feed. Try looking in the phone book for feedstores, your local TSC, Or you can online find your feed manafacturerand try and to fund local ditributor.

Less poop and decreased appetite doesn't sound good. TakeJenniblu's advice. There is a topic at the top of the board calledRAbbit Care Cheat Sheet. Scroll down and you'll see the GI Stasis link.It will tell you everything you need to know. Push hte hay, water andoats wouldn't hurt either.

As to the difference between a tooth purr and Pain grinding.Purring is very soft usually barely heard. You see the mouth movingmore than you hear a sound. Pain grinding is often loud.

If your bunn has dereased appetite and poops and toothgrinding, Call a rabbit savvy vet. There is something wrong.

Good Luck.

Tina

As far as the poop issue, I'd take the advice offered above, but I agree that not eating and less poop sounds bad.

As far as bedding, I'm allergic to pine and cedar. I manage apet store, and can avoid the cedar (we don't use it) but pine is apain. I use enough pine in the bottom of my cages to soak upthe misses from the litter box (I use kiln dried aspen -- it doesn'tseem to bother me). My buns have towels in their cages thatthey seem to sleep on, but I've been lucky as none of them chew thecloth. I also give them straw, my local feed store sells itfor 3.50 a bale and that lasts me a long time. For litter, Iuse Cell-Sorb, it's a recycled newspaper pellet. You can getit at Pet Supplies Plus and some PetSmarts.

For finding feed, you should look for a feed store that is close toyou. Most are willing to special order stuff for you if theydon't carry what you want. Also, smaller pet stores are goodfor special orders too.

Actually I meant pineapple juice, sorryabout that. Most rabbits don't care for eating actual pineapple. Trysome canned pumpkin. Whatever you don't use you can put in an ice cubetray and freeze. Once it's frozen put it in a freezer bagandyou'llhave iton hand whenever you need it.

Let me know if you need help posting pictures. We are blessedto have an ARBA judge here who is Incredible at figuring out mixedbreed bunnies.

This works nicely with extra canned pumpkin too...I buy the really large cans and freeze the extra.

I believe the canning destroys the beneficialeffects of the pineapple enzymes. You can also use papaya tablets.Someuse a bit of cat hairball medicine.bluebird
