My name is Jesse, and I am a database administrator with the website 4petsusa.com. as well as a former rabbit owner (A Himi Rikki-tikki Tavi, and a Netherland Dwarf Little-Bit). I'm going to be adding rabbit-related products to our website in the future, and I'm looking for advice.

What sort of rabbit products are you looking for, online or otherwise? What are some products that you like, but are just a bit out of price range? Are there treats, foods, playpens, or toys that are hard to find?

I look forward to hearing your advice.

I'll look at current availability of banana chips. What other treats do your rabbits seem to love above all others? How do you feel about regular vs. organic treats?

And when putting together rabbit NIC condos, what components do you have the hardest time finding? Proper bedding? Toys? Siding? Food/water dishes? Keep 'em coming?

Mine Love the Oxbow treats, I forget which ones (i'm at work at the moment) but they are so expensive for such a small bag.

Flooring for the NIC condos.

I make my own banana chips which my bunnies love.

I'llthink of other things then post. :)

Most times I won't order online because of shipping costs to Canada.

There is the occasional thing I'll buy that only has like 3 dollars shipping, but once the shipping is almost as much as what I'm buying... Not worth it.

Also a lot of places don't accept prepaid mastercards (which is how I online shop)

These are my only suggestions, since I haven't bought anything online for my bun yet.

Like most everyone else, I find shipping cost to be ridiculous and very prohibitive in what I buy. If I get a good price and reasonable shipping I tend to buy in quantity. I buy hay in 50 pound batches and from an outfit that has free shipping when you buy more than a certain amount.

SOOOSKA, I've been hearing good things about the Oxbow treats as well! I'm going to research their products more thoroughly...I might have additional questions about Oxbow treats later! For flooring, what do you feel is the best? Carpet? Hay? Shavings? Something else not mentioned?

Jynxie, we DO typically allow prepaid mastercard purchases at our site IF there is address information with the prepaid card's account. That way, we can match zip codes with a purchase and make sure that no one is trying to defraud us! This is the reason that many places don't take prepaid cards is that they can't get zip codes to match up properly. Just a FYI.

Nancy, what sort of hay do you prefer for rabbits? Do you prefer "organic" over regular, premier over standard? We'll also look at the possibility of offering free shipping deals with our products.

It's good to hear your opinions. One additional question on top of the others: Are there any rabbit supplements/OTC medical treatments that you have trouble finding, or that you feel are unreasonably priced?

Corrugated plastic for the flooring would be nice. I haven't been able to find I place I can get corrugated plastic (the ones like plastic cardboard) anywhere.

I don't buy stuff online with the exception of concert tickets and a few CD's I can't find in stores. There are stores near me that have good bunny stuff so I don't really need to buy online.

For the NIC cages, you would probably do kits that can make a certain sized cage and it would include the grids, zip ties, connectors (if wanted), the coroplast would be hard to do as you can't really ship a big sheet easily and cutting it up makes the whole thing harder. I know some places that you can order each grid, so can be as many as you need for a certain price per grid.

I use fleece blankets in my cages. The ones I use are about 56X60". If you could get some about that size (or in different sizes) in cool patterns would be neat.
Bedding and litter would probably not be a good idea to have online just becasue of the costs of shipping. I buy 40 pound bags of wood pellets for about $6 and I can't imagine the cost to ship that to Canada. You could do small bags of paper based litter, but I think big bags of bedding would be impractical.

I buy hay from local farmers, the stuff I am using now was $10 for a 60ish pound bale. I know there are people who do buy hay online as they have trouble getting good hay in the amounts they need for a good price.

Oxbow and American Pet Diner are both good pellets. Since many people use them, it would be good to carry them. Both companies also have treats and other stuff like papaya and Vitamin C tablets.

My rabbits really love dried apple and banana. I have a friend who dehydrates them. This is much cheaper than the packaged stuff for rabbits and I know that there isn't any added stuff.

I think that what you would really need to do is set yourself apart from other places somehow. Many online stores have similar products. If you offered hand made toys and treats or really good shipping, more people might be willing to buy. I think what frustrates people is if they want to buy a few toys that might cost $10 and the total price with shipping is 2 or 3 times as much.

Helenor, we'll see about getting corrugated plastic in, perhaps as part of a NIC-kit.

Korr and Sophie, I'm interested in the DIY rabbit condo kit idea. Perhaps we'll look at local dealers in our area that want to start selling items online as well, to broaden their market.

I appreciate all the feedback so far!

shipping to Canada is the biggest problem I find, nothing is ever availble in Saskatchewan, exept for a few things in Saskatoon, which is not the least bit helpful if you dont live there lol as such I am forced to order almost everything I need online, I have a very hard time finding much of anything I need from online stores that actually ship to Canada, and the ones I do find, the shipping is so high that I often buy say $50 worth of stuff, and pay another $50-60 in shipping, and the $50 worth of stuff is mostly just a bunch of crap I dont actually want, its just stuff I threw in the basket so the shipping would not be so hard to swallow!
