:bunnydance:we're thinking aboutadopting a little guy named roswell . he's a 3lb dwarf hotot at arescue near us..well ok its not near us..its actually 3 or 4 hours awaybut it is in nc. he has some issues but theyre not major ones. justthings like not wanting to be picked up and boxing with his front pawssometimes when you put your hand in front of him:?..he is shy...theyput him under special needs bunny because those behavoral issues imentioned, but it sounds like i can handle him if its nothing worsethan their descriptions.they also said he loves nose rub etc. and issweet when you get to know him .hes been with them for 2 yrs..so i knowhes at least that old..lol...he is neutered and litter boxtrained. he's very cute...what do you guys think? good idea/bad idea?

the woman emailed me back and said she thinks i can handle him and thathe is sweet but shy.. nervousaroundother bunniessometimes. she also said he mightbond with peapoo if theircages were beside each other for awhile and they had time to get usedto each other..she seems very experienced, and is asking a bunch ofquestions to make sure he goes to the right home..so i guess thats goodthat shes that concerned. she said he came from a bad situation:(

Awww the poor thing, 2 years is a long time tobe living in a shelter. If you are able to take him on, then I thinkit's a great idea. And 4 hours is quite a drive! That's really nice ofyou to be willing to do that. Good luck if you decide to get him :)

oh i have plenty of room...inside and outside:D...

my mom wants to make sure that he's the right one...she seems to bethinking that he's going to be trouble, but i havent read her all theemails from the woman yet..they have been working on him forthe 2 yrs he's been there...he's still shy..sometimes he lets herhusband hold him for ten min. then other times he hates it...

he's from the house rabbit society, so before i can get him, peapoo has to be fixed.plus ive been reading that that would make iteasier to bond her with any rabbit..so that's what im working on rightnow...my parents want me to try to get the money by myself, so this wk,over spring break,we're going to the fleamarket orhaving a yard sale to sellsome stuff..mom said all the moneywould go toward peapoo...maybe that will help some, im not reallysure...but im hoping it does... plus theres also the cost of the vetvisit required before the surgery and the pain med....and then money toadopt him...but i think it will all work out:)...we're noot in a hurryto get everything done..the woman said not to rush:bunnydance:

It sounds like you've really thought this over, and you're prepared to do what you need to do. I knowwhatever you choose will be best for you, and we'll be here to help youbond them if you do get the little guy.

Do you have any pictures? I have an obvious soft spot for hotots.;)

well...i dont think i should copy and pastepictures from their site...but here's the website...roswell is at thebottom under special needs bunny:)

i think he looks a little bigger than a hotot...but i dont know...isthat about average size for one? his previous owners got him from a petstore...does that mean he's pure hotot? or does it depend on the store?

well theres 4 pics of him;)

OMG does he look a lot like Fey!!! Ibet he doesn't have the dwarf gene, though he is a little smaller thanher. They have the same look about the face.

I think it's quite possible he's purebred. Many pet storebunnies are mixes, but sometimes breeders sell their culls to petstores. Dwarfs without the dwarf gene can't be shown, andboys without the dwarf gene usually aren't used for breeding althoughgirls are. I think he'd be a good candidate for being abreeder's cull. So were my hotot girls. Their loss,my gain.:D

ive been talking to the woman again..and theyvedecided not to adopt out roswell..i think it better that i dont takehim considering that he is hard to bond with other bunnies, and shetold me he was scared of other rabbits... she is attached to him, soshe's just going to keep him with her. she did say that we could bringpeapoo and meet the bunnies, but im not sure what we're doing... firstthing is to get peapoo spayed:D

That's too bad. I'd love to have a Fey look-alikeon the forum. But having Peapoo choose her own friend is areally good idea.
well id like to get a hotot...but im not sure where else to getone around here...but im pretty sure i wantto rescue bunny, see if any of our shelters have bunnies..i think at least one does..there is a holland lop/ lionhead breeder about 40 minutes from myhouse...thats really tempting because the ones on her site are sobeautiful!

If you take your time, get Peepoo spayed andthen let her pick a rabbit that she likes it would be easier for you. Ithink the HRS will let you dothat..test out Peepoo with a lot ofbunnies until she selects one that she really likes. Its not that easyand sort of depressing when you have several rabbits and can't let themnear each other....I have one that is sort of lonely looking but theonly other one that I have alone would fight if I put them together.

i raised dwarf hotot for a few years (well, 4) they are great!

my favorite one was a sr. buck named Yanha's Take A Chance (aka Chance)
(photo below)

chance was great, i could say "chance, up" and the little bugger would jump into my arms. . .it was rather neat!
