new baby bunnies

My rabbit had a litter of 9 babies 5 days ago. People told me they do not move their young, but she made 3 separate nests on opposite sides of the cage and put 3 babies in each. I put them into 2 separate boxes to contain them and make sure they were safe and warm, but I have noticed today that the group of 4 appear to be much larger and fatter than the group of 5. She is feeding them well, but it would appear that she is feeding 1 lot more than the other. I put the littlest in the group of 4 and moved the fattest into the group of 5, have I done the wrong thing?? Should I rotate them in the nests to make sure they are getting a good feed and put the smallest in the smallest nest?? I am a little worried as the smallest bunny is half the size of the largest and it appears to be very scrawny.

Moving babies around is perfectly fine - they actually should be handled by you every day to check that they are eating and growing. It's a myth that momma will abandon them.

I would put them in one nest together so that they can huddle for warmth and mom can feed them all at the same time.

What types of bunnies do you have? Dwarf breed bunnies can have babies called "peanuts" - they will be smaller than the others, along with having other physical characteristics (a Google search will show you what they look like). Your very small baby might be a peanut, in which case there's nothing you can do for him, sadly. Peanuts cannot survive.

I put all the bunnies together, but is she capable of feeding them all together seeing as though there is 9?? Will this little 1 slowly die, it has lasted 6 days now?? Can I not hand feed it or will it just die like fading kitten syndrome in cats???

Sometimes little kits just dont make it for any unknown reason. I have a litter of 9 and my littlest kit didnt make it after day 6. He just wasnt physically strong enough to survive sadly. Also in my 2 newest litters of 5 and 6 day olds, i lost a kit out of both litters, both by freezing to death. They just wiggled their ways away from their nests and didnt survive the trip.

Since moving all the bunnies together, the little ones seem to be putting on more weight, there are definateyt 3 that are much bigger, maybe they are boys. I am not really sure what sort of rabbits they are, my Dad got them from a market for my daughter from a rabbit lady, she said they were rex, a breeder that saw them said they are meat rabbits, the lady at the pet shop they could be dwarf as they can still get on the big side, will take photos soon.

When our two mothers had litters of 5 each, we had two (one in each litter) that we SWORE wouldnt make it..

Both did, and everyone is happy and healthy...
