So - do you have a favorite? Are you keeping any for your breeding program?

They are so cute...I'm not sure which one is my favorite.

The dark smoke that's to the right in most pictures seems to hold his ears really neat. If it's a buck he may be a keeper and I love the two REWs. The smallest is the boldest and had his eyes open first. The other one is a bit chunkier and more laid back. If I could afford it I'd keep them all but will have to settle for 1 or two and base the decision on best type regardless of colour.
If anyone can spot good type in the pictures let me know as I'm still learning:)

XD thank god I don't carry dilute anywhere. All these different colors throw me off. However, sable point, siamese sable, and himi are very easy to tell apart. XD Those smoke pearls.. omg.

Congrats on the litters all making it! They look amazing. And look at those thick ears!

first picture the smoke on the right :) nice bold head I would be watching that one out of all of them at the mo!!

keep in mind you want good width across the nose not the middle of the forehead ( they all look quite wide there lol) and you want when looking at the side of the head for the eye to be closer to the nose than the ear.

best to look at them at 4 weeks make you first pick then keep an eye on them from there as they grow. if they start to go to far gawky then the chance is they wont come back into themselves as good as one that stays semi nice looking! also remember to check at 8 weeks see how the ears are doing remember ears stop first at 12 weeks then the rest of the head and body will come into line over the next few months :)
looking nice Sabine I would be tempted to keep a white back as well a buck if its really nice but more possibly a doe to keep your smokes light enough.
I am so jealous lol whenever our sables produce a smoke we always lose it and I havent had a smoke baby for years now :)

Thanks everyone for the compliments:)
I have my eye on the smoke you pointed out, Polly. I do hope it's a buck. The chubbier one of the REWs may be a keeper too. I was half hoping for a buck there too as I could breed him to Pearl and hopefully get some lighter coloured offspring. It looks like the babies are going to be a dark smoke like the mom. Not a single one of the five resembles dad ( a handsomer light smoke) as regards colouring.

XD Such an odd thing. I always hope for does, since I can't keep many bucks around. I mean. 2 bucks to 6 does at the moment, more once I expand to 10 or so more cages. =D

At 2 weeks, you should be able to sex them. I sexed my litter that's the same age, 5 days ago. The bits are very... Recognizable, to say the least. =D

My two bucks are almost identical in appearance so I really need to replace at least one.
I tried to sex mine today but found it rather hard. The dark sable may be a boy. He seems rather large and may even be a BUB. If that's the case he'll go as a pet.

Really? I only have trouble with one out of four of them. that one has bounced between a boy and a girl for a few days. XD However, the sexes should be decently easy to tell apart at this stage?

The boy bits aren't really formed much. It's like a flap of skin with an itty bitty hole. The girl bit's should be completely recognizable at that point, with the long slit, and the triangle shaped genitals (when viewed from the side, of course. XD)

I have a fair idea what they look like:biggrin: It's just the issue of holding a wriggling body with one hand and then trying to find something with the other. Will have to make a more serious attempt in the next few days:)

I would say the smoke is most like;ly a buck you dont usually get heads like that on a doe! I dont bother sexing them till they are 4 weeks when I am starting to think on what I want to keep :)
