Duude, I don't think I was a size 10 since I was 14 lol! I'd love to be able to wear clothes like that.

My mum always dresses so nicely, she's a petite little size 8 (I would imagine that would be a size 0-2 American?). Clothes here for anyone who isn't tiny are all revolting.

When I read what BBB said about still being sick, I thought she was calling us all sick for looking at the shoes for a minute, haha, where are my glasses? I keep reading things wrong :p

I got the dress! WOO! Failed on the shoes :( The mall was close to closing by the time we got there, and Dotty P, who had the dress was the other end of the mall to the shop with the shoes. I didn't make it in time! And I'm not allowed to run LOL!

Anyway, the dress fits! WOO! And I'm fairly sure that the metallic shoes will go with it. I have pictures, but please, please remember that I have realised that there is officially no way to make me look good on camera! Kind of like that Friends episode where Monica says 'the camera adds 10lbs!' Well, there are 10 cameras on me lol...

Also incredibly blurry, because if I used the flash, all you'd see is the flash, and my compact camera is poor in low light!

I am wearing heels in these pics, but they are blue, and don't really go with the dress... I'll also be wearing tights as well probably, cos I HATE my legs!!:p

And a semi-nice pic of the top half of me, just to balance out the bad ones a bit :p

:embarrassed:

Shoes tomorrow hopefully!!

Jen, the dress looks so pretty on you! I'm glad you were able to find it and it fits :) Good luck with the shoes, too!

you look great!

ADORABLE!! the cut of that dress looks FANTASTIC on you. don't be afraid to show your legs, they look just fine!! i have huge calves and thighs cause of dance, but i am not afraid to show my legs, so you shouldn't be either!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dress - it looks so good on you. I don't think your calves and thighs are that bad - the dress does a really good job of covering up anything that might not look good - honestly - I think the cut is very slimming and attractive.

I hope once you get the shoes you decide on - you'll share another picture of the full look - but the dress ROCKS and so do you!

Awww thanks you guys!!! I feel so embarrassed now lol!

I think I will wear tights though- apart from hating my legs, it's coooold here this time of year lol! And I don't think blue legs would match my purple dress! :p

I guess, I should explain that the reason I'm quite paranoid about my outfit (I mean, I wouldn't normally solicit a big long thread like this for shoes and a dress lol...) is that all my dad's side of the family are going to be there. Save for my aunty in San Francisco, even my uncle and his wife who have recently moved to Israel have flown back for this. But one of my aunties really, really unnerves me. Ever since I had to tell her (through those probing 'aunty questions' at a family gathering) that I'd dropped out of university, she has never looked at me the same. My mum thinks I'm paranoid, and I haven't the heart to tell Dad, but whenever I speak in front of her, she just gives me a look as if to say 'who are you, and who said you could speak?'. It really freaks me out. She loves my brother and constantly asks after him, but never me. All the rest of my relatives are lovely, but she just scares the crap out of me! So, I'm trying to look my best, I'm not sure why! I just hate, hate, hate to have her look at me like that. Whew! Rant!!!

But thank you all so much for your lovely comments! :)

Aww Peg, thank you so much! That really means a lot :)

I shall be well-armed facing my mean-looking aunt on Sunday thinking of everybody's comments! And I shall definately share pics once I get shoes!! :D

you will look SO amazing! just think "EAT YOUR HEART OUT AUNTIE!!"

--amazing what a terrific outfit will do for your confidence!

That's ADORABLE! I love it on you and you look very pretty!

Get the shoes! they'll be really cute with it!

Tell her, "Well, my rabbit buddies think I'm pretty smart & cute... guess you're in the minority..."

On second thought, don't tell her that. I've got a stupid mean aunt too. Know how you feel; they are very much into the family drama.

That dress looks absolutely wonderful. The cleavage totally complements the waist, giving you almost an hourglass figure. I love it!

Awww, thank you guys so much! :D

I got shoes!! WOOOOO!!!!!

They aren't the shoes that I found online- I went to the shop, but they didn't have them. They did have the metalic ones, but I really didnt like the heel when I saw them in real life. Definately not worth £45 anyway. Sooooo, we went to New Look, and I found some shoes in there, for £20!!!!! :D:D:D

They're silver, mary-jane style with a little strap, and the heel is high, but not too high, and it's quite solid as well, so I'll be able to walk. But £20!!! So happy with them!

It's been a looong afternoon and I am shattered (sorry Pennie! Please don't hurt me! :p) but I will get pics of the shoes soon! :D

Oh, and the new shopping centre here is AMAZING! We squealed round pretty much every shop, like excited little kids lol!

Sorry about this. I saw SHOES and went on a rampage. I didn't read you already got some!

Oh my GOD I love that dress!

Wear it with black tights (make sure they are properly opaque or they look all grannyish LOL).

I would buy these shoes:

But then they are from Clarks so of course I like them!

How much do you have to spend?

I like these:

They are £54.99 from Irregular Choice at Schuh. I love them! I think the dress is nice and simple in a great colour (the colour of Royalty!) so you should make a big statement with the shoes!

These ones are ASOS £30:

And why do these have to be £330?

AH SHOES. I could go on all day!

:shock::shock:

Gosh, Fran, I love all those shoes!! The black and white ones are amazing!! We have a Schuh here in Bristol now. A Schuh! Finally! Did you hear that? I said a SCHUH! IN BRISTOL!! I didn't go in today but we went past and drooled.... We have an Aldo now as well!! Finally, all those shoes/clothes I see in magazines I can actually go into a shop and buy, because we have the shops here now! :biggrin2:

Anyway, here are my shoes! I had problems with the white balance, owing to the lighting in my hallway being quite orangey, so I'll show a couple of pics, in various hues, but they are silver/pewter, rather than more bronze, like they might look like!

There you go!!

£20. £20!!!!!! I think that's about $40?? I'm so chuffed! :biggrin2:

I have black tights as well! Opaque ones! :D

As you said Swanlake, mean aunty- eat your heart out!!

Irregular Choice shoes are AMAZING. I love them all!

I love your pewter ones. I was going to suggest grey.

Are you wearing anything else? Or keeping it simple? I think just a load of purple/silver bangles like you can get at New Look or Claires would look really good. Maybe a really really long necklace but only if its really long

I've got a really long silver necklace, and various silver earrings that I'm planning on wearing- not sure which pair yet lol! I've not thought about bangles or anything... :? But then would that be jewellery overkill, to wear necklace, earrings and bangles/bracelets? I'll have a black cardigan as well to put over it, in case! I was thinking about some kind of colour in my jewellry, but not sure, and I've not got time to go to shops again now I don't think- I seriously need to rest tomorrow else I wont be well enough to go!

I'm gonna check out the Schuh website, could be dangerous though lol! :p

Yeah I think bangles might be too much. I think a little hint of turquoise would look great with the purple. A saw a pair of shoes from Topshop that were black, turquoise, purple and gold. Well you've got the pewter, purple and black!

The Schuh website is addictive!

I'm getting a new pair of Clarks shoes on Sunday. Except annoyingly I can't find them anywhere online because they went into the sale ages ago. I have a grey pair of them, they are quite high but really comfy with a big bar and strap. The pair I'm getting are black with a big sparkly brown strap. They have gone down to £24.99 which means they are only £16 for me!

I thought turqouise too!! I saw some really lovely turquoise earrings earlier, but the backing to them was gold, and not only do I hate yellow gold, it wouldn't have looked right with the outfit. If they had the same ones with silver backing, I would have bought them!

Clarks shoes are so great recently. I remember when I was younger my mum always used to drag me in there and I thought it was so 'old-ladyish', but the stuff they have nowadays is really good!
