I have a rabbit, male, French Lop, not quite one year old. He has always had a playful, active and very affectionate personality. He is a house rabbit, and I do not cage him. He has his own room which is baby-gated at night or when I'm not home but otherwise he has free range of the house. He has loads of toys and obstacles in his room and around the house to play with. He is on a normal diet of varying greens and veggies morning and evening, unlimited hay and occasional pieces of fruit for treats. He is neutered.
About a week ago he started behaving completely the opposite of his usual self. He doesn't want me to touch him. He runs away when I come near him, even if I get down on his level to not appear frightening. I try not to corner him because I know that can scare a rabbit, but I wanted to check that he wasn't injured or ill. The one time I did this he growled and charged at me. He has NEVER done that before. He usually greets me with binkies and nibbles on my pants.
I took him to the vet so they could check him over. He has no injuries and isn't sick. He's still eating and drinking normally and his digestive process is fine, including his cecum. He was very aggressive with the vet, growling at her and he bit her.
What could have caused his personality and his affection for me to have completely changed seemingly overnight? He was fine one night and completely different the next morning. D: I'm at my wits end worrying about my baby.
