Aw, thanks for the compliment, Mia! We think Neddie is adorable too :D His fur feels very cottony. He is a good bunny for sure!

Neddo update. His stomach is back to normal. It actually was back to normal yesterday morning. His full tummy issue lasted less than a day. I'm kind of annoyed that it coincided with the vet visit because the vet really glommed onto that as being the cause of his problem. His stomach is no longer packed (it feels normal) but he's still bony. So one vet visit and an x-ray and $150 more or less down the drain.

Maybe now he'll just start gaining weight like I want him to and we won't need to go back at all! He did seem quite spritely yesterday and ate quite well. I will definitely keep everyone updated but do not have another vet visit planned at this point because he actually seems to be acting a bit better and is less bony (it's amazing how quickly they can gain and lose weight!). I want to give him a few more days to plump up before we think of making another appointment, as long as he stays as he is or improves- obviously we would take him back if he does poorly. Plus his regular vet won't be back for at least a week.

Neddie update time again! Little man continues to improve. He's gained weight and doesn't feel bony. It's truly astounding to me how quickly they can lose and gain weight! Sheesh! He's more bright eyed, too. I'm optimistic that his weight will stabilize and we'll find the right amount of food for him and that will be that.

Go Neddie go!

I am very glad that Ned is improving, but I feel your pain.... Yesterday, Pink's exam, which included blood work, cost $175. And that's on top of too much money spent in 2011 to: 1) try to pull Zoe through her last digestive slowdown, 2) pull Emma through a bad stasis bout, and 3) have a tumor removed from our cat's toe.

I continue to hope/pray that 2012 will be a much kinder year in terms of the vet bills.

I'm continuing to keep an eye on Ned. Well, I ALWAYS have an eye on all the bunnies but now especially. He's plumped up nicely but today he's been doing something odd with his eyes. Most of the time I can see a little bit of white at the front of his eye, as if he's looking at something behind him. Then he moves his eyes back to normal about once a minute but they kind of drift again. He does this if he's relaxed, if he's busy doing something they look normal. It does not look like nystagmus (the rapid back and forth) but I'll definitely be watching very, very closely in case that's what it's turning into. No ear infection again, please!!!

Hi SnowyShiloh

I'm new on here but just want to say that you really do sound like an awesome rabbit mom. Your bunnies are lucky to have you.

I'm so glad to hear that the digestive problems seem to have resolved themselves, and hope that they eye issue doesn't turn out to be anything too serious.

You sound really knowledgeable about rabbits, and you are quite right to trust your gut instinct when it comes to things being 'not quite right.' It's something that can't be taught, and something only experience can bring.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Ned. Keep us updated on his progress.

All the best,

Jacki, that's so kind of you to say. I'm crazy about my bunnies and always try to do what's best for them!

Good news is Nedderbug seems all better! He's nice and chubby wubby now (well, not fat but healthy weight) and his eyes are normal. So glad he isn't having an ear infection relapse or a neurological problem or something. Yay for healthy bunnies :)
