Thanks - no news is good news... my sister sent pictures from the beach that he loves... I just wish I was there... I am trying to send him positive energy as best as I can... I'd love to see him kick that cancer right back to where it came from...

Had an uplifting moment today... one of our wheelchair bound students with a chronic condition she was born with walked with assistance today... her smile was awesome, each step she took was a gift... and she told her aide where she wanted to walk before sitting in a chair with help... it made me believe in miracles.

So, time to take life's lemons to make that lemon meringue pie!!!!

Dad will get his CD tomorrow - despite pain and confusion my sister said he was grateful.

He is not taking his meds as he should and my sister wants him to have his privacy... especially since one med is in suppository form... :(

I asked her to check with hospice to see if he can have a PICC line... I had one when for three months when I had a knee infection after a surgery... the infection I had almost killed me in 2007... she will be checking on that. I told her it may be more work for her and the nurses but dad can have his dignity while being medicated.

Maybe I had that infection so I could help dad?! One never knows... but the nurses knew I was all about my dignity... no bed pans or crap like that!

or as we quilters say - when life gives you scraps - quilt:)

i believe that the uplifting moments are given to us to aid us thru the bad times.

i agree with you on the picc line - my mother had our equivalent and it made her life a lot easier.

 pm box on here and FB is always open.

Thanks Donna!

My sister is going to mention the PICC line to the hospice team... he doesn't like the suppositories that help with the vomiting... so he does not take them consistently and once again, he is getting sick. I think the PICC line, if his meds can go through it, would allow him some dignity and he would take the meds better.

Dad got his CD today and my sister said he was too tired to talk but wanted me to know I was his "Christmas angel." He was very excited - I am just glad he got it so he can enjoy it.

The student I mentioned earlier walked in with one aide today and actually stood at my desk to watch a video of my Siamese cat yowling her head off (she is a talkative critter). She was doing great... I am so thankful she has the aide she has now as she is so encouraging and positive - what a difference it made for this student.

Off to clean the barn... no more snow like we had on Monday but it is still cool.

Dad was not well today - very weak, confused, is seeing things and is slipping in and out of sleep...he was reaching for a flower he saw, my mom said. My sister had to get him a wheelchair as he cannot walk anymore but that he played the George Baker CD all day today. My brother in law is going to spend the night with him so my sister can get some sleep.

The priest came to the house today... for prayers and Communion and Dad thanked him for coming out... the priest said he would say a prayer for Dad and Dad said, "I will say a prayer for you, too, Father."

So, please keep Dad in your prayers... my mom said he was at peace after the priest left.

I am readying to travel to CT...most likely tomorrow or this weekend - I feel so out of touch - this is so surreal to me.

Thank you for listening... it is tough being 6 hours away and being told "Don't come down yet."

Thanks...no update yet...trying to get ready for work and feed everyone but I am finding it is taking a heroic effort this morning to get motivated.

I am with dad now... he is resting comfortably and is not in any pain.

I read him the Racing Form on Friday night as he could not see the pages or hold the paper so he could read. He did recognize me then and Saturday morning but not last night - he thought I was his late sister.

As tough as it is I am glad I can help my family - my nieces were having a tough time dealing with what is happening so we went to the beach to wade in the water and walk in the waves... then went to lunch and played cards.

One unusual occurrence was a beagle that wandered into my dad's house, scratched at the door, got into the house, into his bedroom and immediately curled up next to his bed. My sister did not know this little dog and returned him to his owner up the road once she located the owner... she said he was a cute little dog and she had pictures of him... and he did not live nearby!

Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.

Denise
