Awww! You make me want a rat so I can cook for it

It is so fun making "mini rat dinners". You can throw veggies, meat, fruit, and other weird combinations in the same little dish...it looks odd...hehe.

Great job, boys! Stay strong while your manly bits slip away(hm.. or should I say 'taken' away LOL), stay strong! ;)

I bet your a relieved Amy! :D!

Ratties are on my list of pets to own one day.. I remember at this Rabbit/Small animal festival around Easter last year that the SPCA put on to educate people about bunnies, this guy had 3 rats! I was surprised when I saw a bit of chocolate in their cage that they were gnawing on! I think that was one of the few times I've seen pet rats up close!

Cooking for them sounds like so much fun! They are like little kids.

I wish I was allowed to get rats or ferrets, but my Mom is absolutely phobic about them! She has even said that if I get one when im older she won't come to my house!

haha. well to bad, that wont stop me. mwahaha.

I hope you two can get rats! They are a pet that gets looked over so much, just because they are "rats.

Today, one of the vet techs wouldn't even hold the carriers to take them back into their room! The vet had to do it, lol. I don't know why people are so afraid of them.

Then as we went back to the vet's office to pick the boys up, the vet tech goes "The rat people are here!". Lol. I wanted to laugh and smack her at the same time!

My new list of pets that I MUST have some day: a skunk...that has been de-skunked. I just saw a lady on Animal Planet that got 11 de-skunked skunks from a breeder. They were so cute. They reminded me of rats, dogs, bunnies, and cats....all into ONE animal!

DeScented Skunks still smell bad. They are adorable - I used to play with one while my mom visited a friend that had her. I loved her so much but her litterbox was enough to kill the neighborhood!

I never thought to give our rats meat! I will do some studying before Lexi ever gets another one. Could be awhile! She asked her dad tonight if she could get another rat........... "NO!!"

*sigh*

I asked immediately if I could get another bunny and he said "only if you are planning to move out!" :grumpy:

MY BOYS ARE HOME!
Iam so happy! Right now they are in their hospital cages eating some yummy snacks that I fixed up for them.

When they walk, their back legs wobble and they take little steps. They are in pain, but they will heal up nicely and be back to themselves tomorow, most likely :p.

:pinkbouce::woohoo

I'm so glad to hear all went well!! :D

My mum is the same. :rollseyes (Not ferrets though, I don't like them at all.) She also said if I get rats when I'm older she's never coming to my house. :p

Glad your boys got through the op ok Amy! :D

Oh, Ryan STRONGLY dislikes the rats, but yet he is fine with sharing a room with them...as long as he doesn't have to hold them or they don't crawl on him :p.

The boys are fine! Leonidas has been sleeping in his hammock a lot, but Spartan was happily greeting his mommy when I walked in the bedroom when I got home from work.

I am about to let the boys play on my bed and take a couple pictures. They are in small hospital cages right now, so they need to get some exercise :).

I took LOTS of pictures!

Well, only like two of Leonidas. He is so speedy, that is it hard to get pictures of him...and he doesn't like to be held, but he did snuggle up with mommy a few times and that is how I snapped the pictures.

I have tons of Spartan, though. I really think Spartan is older than I imagined. I think he is roughly 1 years old, because of how calm and old-man like, but it could also be his personality. Leonidas is about 6 months old, though, so I know I have quite a long time with him. Spartan has become my 2nd heart rat....I really wish that if he is 1 year old, that he lives longer than 1 1/2....like my first heart rat, Fayl.

Anyway....pictures to come when I get home from work. I am about to be late as we speak! Arg, I can't wait to start my new job on the 15th!

The only two pictures that I could snap of Leonidas. He is such a speedy guy :run:!

Spartan. He is a total mommy's boy. He LOVES when I rub his head and behind his ears...he bruxes (chatters his teeth) and eye boggles (vibrates his eyes in and out of his head).....when I scratch him :hearts!

My ONLY picture of the boys together, so far. Leonidas punched Spartan in the head like 2 seconds after I snapped this picture :p.

Let's hope, that in 3 weeks, they will bond and can live in a new big cage together. Then maybe get some more "brothers" or "girlfriends" to live in the cage with them, next year from a reputable breeder or the shelter :)!

Oh BOY are they cute...give them rattie kisses from me...

My sister had a rattie YEARS ago that she named Mi hijo (which means "my son"). He got to be over a foot long and just HUGE in general (not fat, just BIG). We were told he was a hooded pack rat...

He was SO SWEET. He would take little nibbles of our fingers now and then, but he wasn't in the least bit agressive...just tasting your finger.

Unfortunately, we knew next to NOTHING about rattie care...but he lived a nice life, despite not getting what I now know to be a good diet. He was really special, that big ol' guy...I miss him to this day...

So, as you can see, I love seeing pictures of your ratties. Don't think I would get my own, though, not with the kitties! :D

Hugs!

Rosie*

P.S. So so happy to hear they pulled through their neuter well. They got neutered the same day as Fiver...and my boy's doing rather well, too. :D

Thanks, you two, for the comments !

I am hoping that Leonidas gets friendlier with me over time. I am going to let his hormones calm down over the next few weeks, then we will see. He is really just the type of rat that would rather run around every where than snuggle. Now that he has no more *goolies*, any rat person would think he was a lady! He is hyper and on the sleeker side....definitely the opposite from Spartan, hehe.

I can't wait until I have the money to order them a nice new large cage to share! I also can't wait to see what the future brings, as far as more friends for them. Rats do really well in a "colony". My rat limit (says RYAN, lol) is 4. I am on a waiting list for next February - May for 1 or 2 boys from the ONLY reputable breeder in AZ. I am waiting until then, though, to see what types of babies are born and then decide.

She breeds manx (tailless) rats! I really want a flashy looking VERY curly rex rattie with dumbo ears, and in manx! Then I really want a pink-eyed white dumbo hairless, how cute!

We will see. Ryan said I can't have any more rats, RIGHT NOW. Good thing, too. I need to focus on bonding Leonidas and Spartan....and wait for the breeder's babies to be born. I may be too busy with college by the time she has babies, though, so I may just stick with two.

Ah, but rats are very special to me. It will be 1 year on November 6th that Fayl, my heart rat, passed away. Which is odd, because the movie, "Rattatoulie", comes out on DVD that day....which I am definitely buying it! I still haven't seen it :p.

YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT!?!:shock:it's adorable! Make sure to watch the little rat hands, they're the cutest.

I'm glad to hear the boys are doing well :)we definately need rattie snuggling pictures when they are bonded!

Nope, I always prefer to buy or rent movies when they come out. I REALLY wanted to see Rattatoulie in theaters, but I just never made it before they pulled it!

Ah well, I am looking forward to the 6th, in a way. It will be a rough day for me, though, as that is the 1 year anniversary of Fayl's death. I really miss her. She was the one little animal that opened my mind and heart....and really made me realize that animal's are much, much, much, much more than our best friends.

I'M RATNAPPING YOUR BOYS

That movie was a great great movie. It wasn't funny (to me) like the commercials said, but it was just a good movie. You need to get ittt.
