also he was doing this running jumping upthing..I assume that means he's happy..he would be sniffing and all ofa sudden he would run and jump up in the air..almost like he was tryingto do a lil flip or something..I was like what is that about....I hopeits good

Yeah myrabbit did the same to me when i first got her she still growls andscratches at me somtimes when I go to put her back somtimes shestotally cool about it though. Its a matter of there mood if yourrabbitbites give him a littel thwap only reasonithwapd my buns wasshe drawing blood more than onceon more than one person. First time I did it my bunny waslike hey you hit me I was like hey you bit me from that point on itonly took about 3 more thwaps from diffrent members of the family beforshe got the idea dont bite. Other than that with them notwanting to go back in there cage you have to do two things. First leavabsoultly no bunny hiding spots this means space btween thesopha behind a chair so on.Second if there is aspot that you cant help heard themout (like under my coffetable):p.

If its adeep spotuse a broomhave to do this when my bunny gets under the bed.Avoudance is best though that means closing the bedroomdoorsin my house. Repation works well too say gohome when you want them to go home. I say no bunnys in the bedroom whenshe gets under the bed and i usally try to shake the bed but somtimes ihave to get thebroom handel!! I used to use a flash lightbutI was afraidI would hurt her eyes. Eventuallytheyget really friendly I havent thwaped her for at least 9months.

I still have trouble getingherhome sometimes though. its really dependent on hermood. I had her about a year now and I can realate to yourwows I also adoptedherand I wasnt her first home iwas her3rd that we know of.Also thatshakeing thingmine did it for nearly two days and wouldntleav her cage for a full day afterwe got heritsnormal. Biggest thing I can tell you is potty train nowand talk to your bunny ive actually got mine not to chew on cords atall. and for potty training take the poop from where they put it andput it in there cage right after you put them back I still have to dothis with mine but if I stop she poops more than when I do.Im hoping that Ill be able to break this bad habbit soon, then well beHoping ehh!!!

Thats exactly what I did..she roamed around theliving room and the kitchen so while she was doing that I closed bothbedroom doors and blocked the back of the entertainment center whereall the cords are..she did getin the corner that I called myself "bunny blocking"..but she found a way in there... so I did have toget the broom but I didnt use the stick end i used the brissle end andgently pushed her out of the corner..worked like a charm..hedoesnt bite(so far)..I havent seen him be anything more then scared andnervous never any agression at all..and when she messing with somethingshe has no business and gets that "bot I bet this would be nice tochew" look..I clap my hands real loud and say NO..that works like acharm..my sister just called and said that after I went to work she lethim back out because after I put him in he started sniffin the doorwanting to get back out..so she freed him..its after 2 am here now andshe just called to say "we goin to bed now" I said OMY u had him outfor this long..she said yep and he's pooped too..so he shouldsleep good tonight..Im really glad he's getting used to hisnew home so quickly I still have to get used to seein a bunny hoppingaround the house..lol

when you hold your bun, i know you want toavoidbeing scratched so you used the towel but you should really useyour hands, the reason being that if you use your hands, the bun willget even more used to your scent. if you're handling your bun properly,he'll pick up your scent and learn that you're not there to harm him.

also, i learned the best way to hold the bun is to put your hand underits toosh and hold it agianst your heart so it can feel your beat andknows you're not going to hurt it. if your bun strehces out when youhold it or moves it's legs.. keep one hand under its toosh and put theother on the arch of it's back and gently curl it's body to almost aball shape. at first you're going to feel some resistance from your bunbecause it's worried about losing balance and you dropping it, so ittries to strech it's body out even more so it can properly put it'sclaws into your shirt from all 4's but if you roll it into a ball, yourbun will learn to stop doing that and it will be a lot easier to handlein the future

right now, 2 of my 3 buns never scratch or dig into my shirt because ofthis method i came up with. 1 of the buns still refuses to cooperate soi have to hold his hind legs together first, then roll him into a ball, while still holding his hind legs. he has become much easier to dealwith but still a little trouble maker when it comes to handling him.

Wow - I'm glad that things went so well foryou. I've bought several books on bunnies and the towel trickwas in them....for helping your bunny get used to being held.Soon, you probably won't need the towel...but for now it is probably agood idea if you're nervous about being scratched or bit.

I forgot to mention that I took an old sock and rubbed it on my armsand stuff to get my scent and then put it in the cage w/ mybunny. That seemed to help too - plus he loves to pick up thesock and throw it around (it's all rolled up in a ball).

I'm so happy things went well for you.

i never purchased any books on training bunsbefore, however i'm a psychology major and just applied conditioning tomy buns, it seems to work very well and saved me money from buyingbooks :p

the reason why i didn't use a towel wasit places too much restrictionon the movement of the bun and would cause more struggle or a bigincrease in heart beats

..so I got a towel( a lil smaller then a beachtowel)out of my linen closet and was determined to pick himup and hold him close to let him know that I cared about him and wouldnever hurt him..so I thru the towel on his back and scooped him upmaking sure that I had his back legs up under him and he was squirmingtrying to get away but I held firm and rubbed him and tried to calm himdown and sure enough "It worked"..I was so excited I held him close tobe his lil heart was beating a mile a second but after about10minutes he seemed really calm I held him for about 15minutes and put him back..and he started grooming himself as soon as heentered the cage..

The "bunnie burrito" technique works really well with a couple of our buns that aren't crazy about being handled.

We use it when we need to clip nails, give or apply meds, clean or groom, or perform routine check-ups.

It keeps them from hurting themselves, or hurting you. It gives them afeeling of security. Once they understand that you have a firm hold onthem and they aren't going to fall or get loose, they usually settledown.

The only thing to be cautious of is possible overheating if they arewrapped up for an extended time (like for nail clipping). If this isnecessary we do it in short sessions and takes frequent breaks.

Rabbits for one are NOT humans, 2 ) rolling them into a ball doesntrestrict movements? i think this one hadbetter go get a refresher course ,the Logic doent make sense.

Don't let this one get you upset.

They were banned anyway.

I've had my new rabbit for a month and she stilldoesn't totally like me. She only likes me now because I feed her. Theyjust have to get used to you.

The older rabbit liked me within a week or so, but I spoiled him to themax. I got him as a baby and let him run around my room and thehallways as much as he liked. He was bought potty trained though. Iused to put treats like a distance away until I had them in my lap. Hewanted the treats so he came into my lap and got them. It didn't takelong until he was climbing all over me.:D

I'm trying to figure out a way to bond with her now. It'salittle difficult since she isn't potty trained. I guess I was spoiledby the first one.

About chewing, the pet store sold me this stufffor animals that stops them from chewing on stuff. My lil' Preciousjusts sniffs at cords now and won't chance the taste. It's not harmful(the lady at the store actually tested it herself). I'll let you knowthe name as soon as I remember. You can spray it on anything and itworks on all animals.

Apple bitters by chance ? ,that stuf tastes nastytothe max !!!!!

you ask how i know !!! well letme tell ya lol , i had sprayedsome on a bird who was plucking feathers, it actually works they do notlike the taste lol welli inadvertantly got some on myfingers or hand andit ended up in my mouth (gagging still ) , letme tellyou if it tastes half as bad toanimals as it did me , Iwouldnt want a seconddose of it either ! lol:?
