My rescue rabbit that I've had for almost a year ate clumping cat litter last night. I wouldn't say more than a half teaspoon. I checked on her today and she just seemed off like in a sad mood. Then remembered she had eaten the litter the previous night, and she is still not as active as she usually is. What should I do?

Is she still pooping as usual? Try to get her to eat more hay in the meantime. Refresh it often to encourage more hay eating and be sure she has plenty of water as well.

She is, and thanks so much!

If she stops eating and pooping, or isn't eating very much, or if you're at all concerned she's not doing well, it would be best to have her checked by a knowledgeable rabbit vet right away, as an emergency visit if necessary. A rabbit not eating/pooping, or not eating very much for more than 12 hours, is considered an emergency situation. Or if a rabbit develops bloat from an obstruction, that's an immediate emergency.

Thank you, she has been eating hay. Trying to see if we can get into a vet asap.

Our vet listens to their stomachs with a stethoscope to see if there are gurgling noises. She has also given them medicine to make them feel more hungry after an operation. But as their stomachs are so delicate I’d go to a vet. It costs about £30 a shot where I live, but definitely worth it.

Thank you, everyone, for the replies, we found out that thankfully she didn't eat too much of it and the vet said she could just pass it. Bonnie is now doing much better and is back to her normal self!
