I don't know what's wrong with her today. I don't think she's been drinking, and she won't swallow when I tried to eye-dropper it to her. She wouldn't eat the mush I made for her, and she would only grab the lettuce I tried to feed her, and not actually chew. I put her back in her cage, and she will just hide in her box, rush to the other end of the cage and sit there doing nothing, then rush back into the box.

She's like a rag-doll, I can shove her around or put her on her back (which she hates) and she'll just lie there for a while before slowly moving. I'm going to try to find a vetm but I don't know if I'll be able to get any money so I can get to the vet and pay for the visit

Oh Nadia, I'm so sorry. :cry1

The vet should treat her for free, seeing as it's the Amoxicillin after effects that need treating. But to begin with, she's a nine-year-old bunny with a serious illness. That'soldfor a bunny.

You can try syringe feeding her the Pedialyte carefully in the corner of her mouth (as long as it doesn't get in her nose). You can also see if she'll eat a few oats.

But truthfully, there's only so much illness her system can take. We're hoping for the best, but it really doesn't look good.Give her a kiss for us. :saddened

sas :pray:and pipp :bunny5

Mom left a message to the vet saying she had died. He phoned back. He explained that his specialist in the US had never heard of amox being bad.

The vet told us to go down to the animal shelter tomorrow, and he'll pay to cremate her. He said that when I feel up to it, he'll help me find another bunny.

I managed to tie a blue ribbon around her neck before rigor mortis set in.

I can't believe she's gone. She was my best friend for almost a decade.

Oh no....I just logged in to check on your rabbit too. I'm so sorry.

One thing I've learned is that non-rabbit people frequently don't understand. One way you can explain it to them is "My companion of almost 10 years just died". My mom found that when her 18 year old cat passed away - that was the only way that she could make people understand why she was grieving....

I'm so sorry for you. That is sweet of your vet to be willing to help you get another rabbit....it sounds like your vet feels bad too.

But it doesn't ease the pain...and I'm so sorry. May your happy memories bring you comfort in the future.

Thanks for all the kind words. Your guys' advice helped me to make Oreo's last few days here that much more comfortable. It's sad that she died, but she was a 9 year old small breed with cancer. It's probably better that she died like this, without a lot of pain (she never ground her teeth loudy) than if she lived longer and had the cancer spread.

Thanks again for everything you guy's have said and helped me do. For now, I need to finish uber-bleach/scrub/scrape the stains off bunny's cage, and do some research around town to find the healthiest pellets, the nicest hay, and some grass mats and stuff.

The way I see it, I already know what bunnies (in general) need in regards to food ratios and stuff, so I owe it to the bunny population to adopt a few bunnies and save them from being 'gift' bunnies to small children with ignorant parents, or worse, food. Some one just up the street sevral blocks raises bunnies for food! D:
