This is my indoor setup for Stew
hutch.jpg

Theres plenty of room for him while he grows but i realise he is soon going to need a bigger one, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.
He has a feed mix with stuff i cant describe ( the store gets it bulk and puts it in small bags for sale, and its all they had)
I also provide him with hay to munch on. for some reason he only pees and poops in his bed box in the top left corner of the hutch. and because the pee was dribbling down through the hutch ive had to lay down some cat litter
here is the brand im using

he has a water dish as thats what he is used to, but ive also provided him with a bottle to explore at his own leisure.
feel free to offer some tips, any D.I.Y's are greatly appreciated also

Hello and welcome!!
Ok so first, I would ditch the hutch. It isn't enough room for a bunny. If you can, I prefer (and rave) about xpens (aka exercise pen) that they use for dogs. It gives a reasonable 8sqft space for your bun, is cheap (they are 40 bucks on Amazon here in the US), and they can easily be added to, or enlarged by attaching it to a wall. They also don't get messy.

Second tip, look for a food that is ONLY pellets, and not all that other junk. I use Oxbow, I'm not sure whats available there though, but you could ask in diet and I'm sure you'll get an answer :) 1/2 at most per 6lbs :)

3rd, rabbits are extremely clean animals, and as you've noticed, like to poop and pee in one (sometimes 2)spots. Put a litter box there with a thin layer of stove wood chips (cheapest, there are others like yesterdays news and cellsorb) and dump daily/every 2 days. You can also put the hay right in the litterbox (I put mine in one half, they don't usually stand on it to eat it so it stays clean) or in a box in front of the litterbox. Lots and lots of hay will save you medical and sanity troubles down the line. Less teeth and GI issues, less destructive tendencies, and many more benefits.
My bunnies also get salads every night, romaine lettuce, kale, collard greens a little bit of shredded carrot and an occasional craisen. That should all be introduced slowly, in small amounts, one at a time. Its recommended about 2 cups or 2x's the head of your bun.
They love to play, I have a few toilet paper rolls, cardboard boxes with holes cut out, willow balls, etc.
Is there a thread with photos of Stew? I'd love to see him!

hello, thanks for the reply :) stew is a tiny 7 week old baby, it may not look it but the hutch has mega room for him, and he isnt in it all day anyway, he gets to run around the house. We have already picked out his next house for when he gets bigger, its called a mega hutch and it about 4 stories tall with little hidey holes and tunnels. Ive not been able to find pellets in my town, i got stew in a city about 2 hours away and they assured me that the loose mix was exactly the same ingredients as the pellets. now i have him home and everyones telling me pellets are better!

I think i posted pictures of him in my introduction :)

The hutch looks fine and the fact that he gets out and is able to roam is a big plus. I make mazes out of cardboard boxes and also keep their pans inside boxes--contains everything, is neater, and much easier to clean and keep clean.
