Hi all! So I have a 7 month old Holland Lop male who is neutered and house trained (he urinates/defecates only in his cage or in a litter box). Therefore, I give him complete run of my room at all times so his cage is always open. I have not had any problem with this. However, recently he has learned that he can jump onto my bed, and he pees on it while I'm gone. I also brought him to visit my boyfriend's house, and while he did not have any other accidents over his weekend there, he jumped on his bed and peed on it too. Any idea why he is doing this and how I can stop it? Thank you!

Yeah, they like to do that unfortunately. Soft, squishy things some rabbits just love peeing on them. Not much you can do other that restrict access to your bed. You may get lucky and your bun might stop doing it on his own...this did happen in my case with Sophie...she used to pee on the sofa but then she realised that it was nicer to sit on and relax on rather than using it as a litter pan. But I think I got lucky. Most people with this issue I think don't get their bunny to stop. Best thing is to make sure you wash all the pee smell out. Use vinegar or a enzyme product to neutralise the odour. Otherwise if they smell the pee, they just keep peeing there over and over. Maybe get a mattress cover too so it doesn't soak into the mattress.

Thanks for your response! That's kind of a bummer to know there's not much I can do about it, but all well. Today I put a litter box on my bed to see if that helps put an end to the problem. I'll see when I get home. Thanks again!

haha yup! i was kinda thinking maybe it's because he smells me all over the bed or something and that makes him want to pee on it? i came home today and he hadn't had any accidents up there. i think i'm just going to try leaving a litterbox up there whenever i leave from now on, so maybe he'll realize that's the proper place to be peeing haha.
