So I noticed Arlo had some poop stuck on his butt so I was trying to get it but he kept running away so I attempted to pick him up and he jumped out of my arms and fell and slammed into the side of the playpen. He seems ok and not ignored. He’s not bleeding or anything from what I can see. But I got so worried. Someone please help me on tips for picking him up I have to brush him and trim his nails soon.

I started to cry because I feel so bad! He was probably so scared I feel so guilty.

As stated in the other post, it best not to force picking him up. You need to gain his trust so be at his level on the floor. Let him learn you, know your smell, everything. Rabbits are very clean animals. They spend a good portion of their day sleeping, eating, or cleaning themselves. In fact, they spend more time cleaning themselves than cats. So if he has a couple of poops stuck to his butt, it's fine. As long as it's not a persistent problem. Because if he's not grooming himself almost every waking minute, then it's a problem. Please keep in mind that he's new and you still need to gain his trust. Right now, according to his instincts, you're dangerous.

Again, as stated before, stop rushing things. He won't need nails trimmed anytime soon. He won't need to be brushed either. Leave him be. Be sure his litterbox is topped with fresh hay. That will help keep his bottom from getting too messy. Once he's older, he'll have figured out those cecals and they shouldn't cause any messy bottom. A single poo or two stuck to his fur at this age isn't cause for alarm.

Also, do remember to include your rabbit's age and how long you've had him with every question so people have that necessary info to respond appropriately.
