I'm a little confused.

I am no breeder, but on the HRS website and many others, I have seen that domestic rabbits are normally weaned at 6 weeks old (wild at about 4 weeks old)....so if they are weaned then, then surely the extra time in the nest is not about nutrition...it's about socialisation and environment.

While I do agree rabbits should stay with their mum till 8 weeks, surely it's not going to compromise their immune system etc. to take them at 6 and a half weeks?

Or does weaning take more than a few days? Is this 'weaned BY 6 weeks' or begin weaning by 6 weeks. (wean has lost all meaning now because I've written it too many times lol!)

That was my thoughts exactly Jcotton (Or jen :))
Quite alot of confusion from the critics, while im sure many can find articles, i think it really just depends on the bun, and the relationship with the mother.

Some buns, can suffer emotionally.. while some (in my opinion) need to be homed, or at least relocated early, say when a mother becomes either territorial, or aggressive in any way!

So, only evidence i will conclude, is when i get mine, and i can update with a behavioral blog or two, and his progress in his new home :)

and even that, will not conclude ALL buns, as they are all diffrent.
