[align=left]Hello,
All the story began when he started to eat less last week. Tna after two days he stopped eating completely. He stopped also to poop. In one of his eyes there was also an infection. The only good thing was that he drinks himself. We took him to the vet, he looked at him and checked everything and decided that he has a cold or a fever. He told us to give him special antibiotics for four days. But know four days are finished and if it would be a fever my rabbit suppose to be healthy or eating already, but nothing changed. He doesn't look worse but he started to poop sort of with mucus. It was so scary. In my country it is late evening and i can't take him to the vet right now. So if you can help me by telling what it can be and perhaps there is something i can do to him to stay ok until the morning, please help!

He said the bunny had a cold and a fever?? Do you have the name of the medication he gave you to give to the bunny?

Does your vet treat a lot of bunnies? Does he know a lot about rabbits?

Hopefully someone will know some more about the mucus....

The medicine's name is Gamovit. I am not sure how to spell it because it is written in other language. You see we moved here and it was the first time we went to a vet with our rabbit. If he won't help us tomorrow than we are changing him.

Here is a recent post by Naturestee about the mucus topic.

Mucous means that there is some sort of intestinal disturbance or irritation, which can be very serious in young rabbits like yours. Some rabbits get this more often- dwarf hotots, english spots, and some red-eyed white rabbits- but even then it's a sign to be more careful.

Baby rabbits sometimes get an intestinal infection called mucoid enteritis. The main symptoms are mucous and diarrhea. This is a very serious disease and can't be treated without antibiotics from a vet.

Stop feeding all veggies in case they are the causeand make sure she's eating lots of hay and drinking water. Clean the cage more often so you can be sure she's pooping and peeing normally. If there's any sign of diarrhea, or if she stops eating, drinking, or going to the bathroom, get her to a vet ASAP. If she seems worn down or unusually tired, also get her to the vet ASAP.

You should find a better vet in my opinion. We'll have to check around for one in your area. Hopefully we'll be able to find one for you.:) I hope your bunny will be ok until morning. It sounds like the initialvetvisit wasn't worth your while.:(

Till you can get to the vet try to make sure that your rabbit is drink and eatting. Monitor him as much as you can. Also you may need antibiotics for a longer time.

We will be praying for your little one.

Will the rabbit eat any hay or dried whole-grain bread? This may help his stomach until you are able to get him to the vet. Anything containing vitamin E may also help.

Have the vet check for teeth problems (this can be related to eye problems as well as lack of appetite).

Because the symptoms fit so many illnesses, it's hard to guess what is wrong.

If the rabbit is getting dehydrated, he'll need to be put on an IV. It's also possible that he's not tolerating the antibiotic well.

I went to the same vet as last time, he checked him more and decided that it is intestine infection and the same antibiotics must help. We will use them two more days.We also inject glucose, immunal and some vitamins. I think today he looks better. He drinks, he tried a bit of hay. He even went out for a small walk around a room. Thoug he didn't poop. We will go to vet again on friday or saturday. I hope he will get better. By the way thank you for the support.

[align=left]My rabbit has still mucus from his bottom but before it was green and now it is yellow and it is way less of it. From my understanding that yellow mucus is way better than green one. He walks around a room a lot. He doesn't sleep all the time. He eats really little but he looks way better. So about mucus does any onenow better what colours mean? Ofcaurse we will go to vet tomorrow or on saturday but perhaps someone nows about it?

I don't know about the color, but if there's less of it that's good. Is he still on antibiotics? He might need to be on them for longer, and it's best to use them continuously instead of starting and stopping.

Our vet asked us to use it until today but she gets still vitamins, glucose and immunal. We will see what she will say on saturday about antibiotics. But the antibiotics my rabbit was given were quite strong and were suppose to kill all bacteria's in her stomack in five days( that is what vet told).

[align=left]Unfortunetaly our bunny died today.Everything happend so fast and in my eyes. I don't won't ever to experience how much i saw today. That is so said. I don't know how i am going to live without him but i don't want to get a new onebecause I am scared it will happen the same. I did everything I could and he looked in some way better but... We lived happy 5 years.

Oh no, so sorry.

:rip:

It's just too hard to know what's going on inside. It takesa really good vet who really knows a lot about rabbits to help youwhen things go wrong.

It's always really hard, but you took such good care of him, I really think there's another bunny that needs somebody like you care for him, too, and that you will feel better with another bunny to love and hold.

So sad for your loss. :pink iris:

sas :cry4:

I'm really sorry to read your bad news.. :( I wish there was more to say, take care of yourself.

Hello akvilyta ,I am also in Russia. I just found some yellow mucus in my baby bunny's cage along with some normal looking feces. I am worried for her - she is very young.

I have sent you a pm about probiotics and medication for rabbits in Russia, please do read it and i'm awaiting your reply. Thank you.
