Michelin's Airless Tire "Tweel" Could Revolutionize Tires
At the North American International Auto Show Michelin showed off their revolutionary new airless tire. They are calling it "tweel". While it may look very strange it has some amazing characteristics that could allow it to replace todays conventional tire.
The tweel is very similar to the standard tire in many ways, but far superior in others. Below are some things that the tweel does, that conventional tires can not do.

Always maintain equal tire pressure -
With no air to worry about, maintaining tire pressure is as easy as forgetting you ever had it.

Never have a blow out, or flat tire -
Once again... with no air there is no such thing as a flat tire. No sudden blow-outs, or pressure bubbles will happen if you're riding on tweels.

Bumps be gone -
This new tire by Michelin reduces road bumps substantially over traditional tires.

Better response, traction, handling -
The tweel can be tuned for different road conditions. It can provide better traction, handling, and response by increasing/decreasing the spoke resistance and tread softness.

Here are a couple pictures that illustrate the Tweel's amazing ablility to take bumps without harm to the tire itself.
