Too bad he chose Palin, I really think it hurt him. I enjoyed Palin as potential vice president because she was so easy to joke about (Tina Fey, Jon Stewart, etc.)
Im not so sure about that one. Liberals definitely hated her (but they would have hated pretty much anyone McCain chose) and she was really slammed in the media which gave a lot of people a bad representation of her. I know a lot of Democrats who were even sick of the anti-Palin press coverage day after day. For many Republicans, she was the reason they went to the polls for McCain. He was considered too liberal for a lot of the Republican base. I heard a lot of Republicans say they werent goingto vote in this election before he picked someone so representative of strong conservative values. So I think she was very polarizing, you either loved her or hated her.

I know alot of people that until he chose her were voting for him. I saw others I would have liked more than her. Though if he had chosen Romney I honestly may have left the country. :p

I'm glad. I did not mean to offend you or others by my comments...I was just popping off and saying what I feel about things.

I just want to point out that while I am a conservative and may disagree with many forum members on a number of issues - I don't believe that they should change their beliefs to agree with me - and I don't think that I'm always right.

My beliefs are mine - they're important to me and they are a major part of who I am.....and they may be totally different from whoever is reading this message right now.

But they are just that...mine. I expect to live by them (and vote by them) - myself. It isn't my place to make others change their opinions or actions.

I appreciate the fact that at times we as people can just agree to disagree and respect each other even if we agree totally opposite things.

As long as we can have the internet and RO to help us through the bunny stuff.....

We'll be ok! ;)

I still want Evan Bayh as VP ! He's a centralist Democrat! :biggrin2:

I debated on sharing this on the forum - but I'm going to share it here.

Former Governor Mike Huckabee has a tv show on Fox now and he said this on the last show about President-elect Obama....I felt that he did a good job with it and I'm glad I can pull it off the internet.

http://www.foxnews.com/video2/video...alPlaylistId=&sRevUrl=http://www.foxnews.com/

I'm sharing it because it is sort of the way I feel - although I obviously feel more strongly against Obama than Mike Huckabee does - he is our President and as such, I feel he deserves our respect.

I felt like Mike Huckabee was very graciously saying what so many need to hear and remember.

Anyway...I enjoyed it- I hope you will too. (The last few seconds are advertising - don't feel like you have to hang on for that - the first 2 minutes or so are the good parts..).

Thank you for sharing that, Peg. I have been so disappointed in the American people lately for being a disrespectful lot. That definitely goes along with what I believe. This is a man who was elected our President. He deserves respect, whether or not you agree with his decisions. You can disagree respectfully. It's the decisions, not the man. I hope people on both sides hear that message. I hope that President Bush leaves the office with respect, and that President-elect Obama enters the presidency with respect.

We wonder why our young students can't show respect to their teachers? They don't see a majority of adults being respectful to the man in the highest office in our country.

I'm so tired of the hate.

You know...... I am probably going to open a whole new can of worms here but.....

don't you think that a lot of the disrespect for the president's office came from when Bill Clinton had his escapades and the media went CRAZZY with it?!

I mean, I don't approve of what he did but what he did really didn't affect our lives in the United States other than the media drowning us in it constantly.

I haven't checked on that Peg..... I'll try to click on it later :)

We need an "opening can of worms emoticon..." :biggrin2:

Well - Art was in the military from 1982-2002. Until President Clinton - you never ever heard the President joked about at work....remember though - I'm talking about the military. However, among most of the people I knew (of our friends and Art's friends) and the people Art worked with - President Clinton was a laughingstock. When he visited Elmendorf AFB in Alaska, some people went willingly to see him - in Art's case - his commander had to order the men to go see him to get enough people there. One running joke was that President Clinton was the "Commander in Briefs" or something like that.

I mean, I don't approve of what he did but what he did really didn't affect our lives in the United States other than the media drowning us in it constantly.

I think the media handled it wrong - but I feel like it showed a lack of character on his part....then again that is my opinion only - and like feet - we all have 'em and theres a good chance you'll think mine stink! :biggrin2:

I haven't checked on that Peg..... I'll try to click on it later :)

I think its worth listening to because Huckabee is definitely a conservative - but not an angry conservative.

Now what I'm about to share is based upon my personal experience only...and I'm not sharing it to get people angry - its an observation that I've made based upon MY friends and acquaintances.

Among those who are "conservatives" - when I see anger - I see it directed at the issues - or "I hate that he/she supports this".

Among those who aren't conservatives - its more like "I hate the person because they support this".

While I'm bothered by the disrespect in America - I'm also bothered by the anger and "hate" I often hear people express.

I do not like Obama at all - and doubt I ever will. I probably stand about as opposite to most of his issues - as a person can stand. I hate his position on things...but I don't hate him as a person. I can separate who he is as a person from what he believes....

Just my musings....and of course its based only on my limited experience....

But Bo - I do think there is a lot of disrespect there now....

I was so angry with Clinton. I really agree with you on how things were handled.

I actually like Mike Huckabee :)

I am really a conservative at heart, but I am frustrated and see that things need change and to me, McCain was just not going to do what was needed.
