lol, I was just reading about pin bones in my guide book.

Eric Stewart has an article with Melissa Kelly about Evaluating Rabbits.

Mr. Stewart says many exhibitors confuse the prominence of pin bones for something more serious, like a lack of condition or undercut. All rabbits have pin bones (they are part of the pelvis) some are more prominent than others regardless of flesh condition. There is a marked difference between flesh condition and body structure. Good flesh condition can cover up some faults in body structure. Poor flesh condition can exaggerate faults by making a better typed animal appear to be weaker in teh midsection or hindquarter. Flesh condition is mostly influenced by genetics. Although flesh condition is impacted by nutrition, provided an animal is receiving adequate care (pellets, water, regular deworming and a clean environment), it is less environmental and more genetic.

Very interesting. I think Neville wants to hide this guidebook. lol I've been handling him all day seeing what he's really all about regarding conformation.

Okay, after reading that article I admittedly can't "unsee" in my head a rabbit with a tapeworm = bunny shaped soap on a rope.

:headsmack

I don't even know.

Sammy, the buck has major issues. He's afraid of everyone, screams when you pick him up, will have NOTHING to do with a doe that wants bred, etc. He's going to take a lot of work, and even then I doubt he'll be willing to breed anything.

And thanks for the visual with the "bunny shaped soap on a rope. LOL!

Thanks again, Sarah! I didn't get a chance to practice with Max today, but tomorrow I'll see if that helps. She basically smashing her chest down against the table. I think it's her way of pouting. LOL Hopefully this will help get her to lift a bit. Or maybe it's me, moving their front legs too far forward, making them appear to really slope in the shoulders.
