Ohhhh...I never thought of that! Max doesn't like being picked up, and he really hates being flipped. But I do both, because he IS going to be a show bunny, whether he likes it or not. haha

Thankfully I started with Neville at 6 weeks. I've been flipping him gently and touching him all over his belly, hind legs and private area trying to relax him to my touch and future touches of judges. He's OK with it so far.

Plus it helps with the grooming. I've started that at 6 weeks also. Just a little bit at a time. I've got to now start thinking of posing as well.

I figured if I start now, by the time he's ready for a show, it won't be so traumatic. Instead of waiting and just expecting him to just "do it" when he's at the age he can be shown.

K :)

Well, I've been doing it since we brought him home. But he absolutely HATES being turned over..and doesn't care to be picked up. He's fine for grooming, because his feet are on the grooming table. And he's doing really well with posing (actually holds it for a minute before moving).

Maybe I'm flipping him over incorrectly. Everything I've read shows how to put your hands on their head, and hold their ears between your fingers to keep from hurting them. But it's hard with a lop ear, because they're in the way.

Neville, now 8 weeks is starting to hate being flipped over as well. Mr. Independent. Plus he hates when I try to check between his legs to make sure no poo or tangles. Its funny how he holds his feet real close so I can't get there. Today he was more feisty so I just gently flipped him (I don't have problems with ears but have to watch the back end so one hand around shoulder blades, than I scoop his back end and gently flip) and just touch him with my fingers, checking his stomach and boy area, and gently plying the tiny knots out. I did it for a couple minutes and then let him be. Also worked with combing his face. Another area he's a bit skittish about. I haven't even started the pose. I'm still need to research and understanding "posing". Don't want to teach Neville any bad habits.

I'm thinking just keep being consistent. Keep doing what I'm doing. He's got to get used to the grooming whether he likes it or not. It's more for health reasons IMHO to groom. And he has to be flipped. I need to know all is well on his underside.

Plus one day another is going to be checking his boy area after flipping. I think it's my responsibility to have my show rabbit calm. They don't need to have to fuss with it.

Yeah, Max takes great offense at the "nether region" checks, too. LOL He just tries to get flipped back over, but it's getting a little better. And that's my thoughts on being flipped too. How else are you going to feel for lumps/bumps that shouldn't be there?

If only we could just say, "This is for your own good, little bugger." haha

Max loves his face/head/ears scratched and played with. The second you start petting, he turns into a ball of jello. Flip him, and you get a bun that's like a rock. LOL
