I'm not freaking out (for once ;)), but I do have a question.

Last night when I had the babies out and about, I decided to flip each over on to their back so that they could get used to be being handled and also so I could do a quick check over. Well, I'm happy to say that they're both still girls, but Hope did have a little matting on her underside that looked suspiciously like she pooped and/or peed on herself. Faith didn't have the same deal going on and that's what has me slightly concerned.

Hope seems like she's growing at the same rate as Faith and she eats and drinks well. She's also very active and is always getting herself into something. And I even went so far as to smell her undersideto see whether there was a concerning odor which there was not. And it's not terrible, but there is definite matting around her butt and female parts.

So, is this something I should be concerned with? My guess is she probably went to the bathroom and was sitting in it for a little while. They're so young though and I don't want to miss anything that could be important. Any suggestions or advice?

I have noticed this on my bunny (Harry) too today. Harry is pure white and the matted part is not yellow or brown so I don't think it is anything to do with toilet troubles! I'm wondering if it is where he has been sitting in damp grass as we have had a lot of rain recently but it doesn't seem to put him off going downstairs into his run! He is still cleaning himself, eating and drinking OK. He is going to the vet's on Monday for his VHD vaccination so I'm going to mention it to him then.

One thing to check for is a dicolored "caking" around her uretha, it couldbe a possible urinary infection. If you do find something like this, get the bun toyour vet as soon as you can. Antibiotics will clear it up.

Good luck:)

Man, I've been neglecting my posts lately. I'm sorry.

The matting has cleared up some with Hope. She still has it slightly, but at this point I'm chalking it up to the fact that she's young and doesn't groom herself perfectly yet. But she's eating, drinking, pooping, peeing, and playing. And she's about doubled in size over since she came to me less than two weeks ago. I'm going to keep an eye on her, but for now I'm not as concerned as I was.

Thanks again for the advice. I'm happy to say she's okay...as is her sister.
