Oh yuck Charlotte, I know the feeling. Our 'charming' neighbor down the road tossed out their cat when theyfound it had leukemia. The dolt was convinced it would passleukemia on to his children. When we rescued the cat, she hada nasty warble in her neck. It was the first time Iencountered one of those creatures. Apparently she had beenbitten and had an abcess and that's where the warble went.

Bub and Iz have "bots" right now. It's not a bigdeal as far as pain goes, and they seem to be healing on their own. Bubsure isn't in distress--he's bouncing off the walls! I check them dailyand the larvae seem to be leaving without my help.

JUST A WARNING: Lenci had a larva inher neck right before she died. The vet instructed us NOT toremove this larva on our own. If the larva is not pulled outentirely, poisonous toxins can be released into the blood stream thatcan kill your rabbit. It is best to take your rabbit to thevet if you notice larvae.

So in the case of finding a warble ....besidesveterinary (or anexperienced person's) action .......... thetell tale physical symptom is a hole in the swelling....if you are notable to immediately seek vet. attention, if youwere tosmother this hole with something(obviously with somethingnon-toxic to the animal) would it cause the larvae to come to thesurface seeking air ... or burrow lengthwise to create a new swellingand airhole?

This is an issue...which is whyone needs to be careful whenremoving. We've removed them before and you don't want to squash themor anything because of those toxins.

She didn't seem to have been in any pain or distress, atall. However, she didn't fight me when we pushed it out orwhen I was cleaning the wound out. Believe me, I was"digging" around in that hole with Q-Tips and she only flinchedonce! So, I can only assume that even though she showed nodiscomfort when it was in there, I'm sure it "hurt like h*ll"!!
I still remember my rabbit sat so still the whole time I was pullingthe "warble" out. It sounds like you did the rightthing. Maybe pour some hydrogen peroxide down there, too.
