Lonely rabbit now

I had two rabbits that lived and loved each other, long hair and floppy ear. I do work half the day at weird times too, so they always had each other. I am still living at my parents house at the moment but plan to move in the future. For now though, I have a dog and **** happened. The long haired rabbit was giving a heart attack and passed away while the floppy eared survived. I still work long hours and come home, try to play with her but she will only come near me for treats. I let her smell and walk around but nothing. I know that I will have to get rid of her eventually but for now, what can I do to have her entertained threw out the day while I'm away so she isn't lonely and maybe can entertain her self as well?

Rabbits generally sleep for the most part, during the day. So if you can spend time with her in the morning and evening, that would be ideal. This link has info and tips on how to form a closer bond with your rabbit.

I don’t agree with the “if” here. They “need” to spend time with the rabbit. Either that or they give up the responsibility and pass to someone that has the time/dedication to give to this poor bunny. Clearly something involving a dog happened here, generally rabbits don’t just have heart attacks. I’m sorry for ranting but I see so many posts of these poor rabbits being treated like ****. They’re living breathing animals that deserve the same love and attention you would give to a dog/cat.

Like @JBun said, the more time you spend with your bun the better. But when you're out, foraging activities are great to keep her busy. Here are a few suggestions:

- small bits of dried fruit and/or a teaspoon of pellets sprinkled over her hay or a ridged cardboard cat scratcher (see photo) Or if you want to spend a few dollars, get a forage mat
-chew toys that hide treats
-sprinkle pellets all around her enclosure so she has to work for her snacks

*I use pellets as treats or make my own treats when I need use food to motivate or entertain bunnies. Store bought treats have too much sugar and junk to use as a staple for daily foraging. Imagine giving a kid chocolate bars, chips, and pop multiple times as day...soon you'd have a chubby, moody terror on your hands who's either on a sugar high or crashing. Not fun. For either of you.

You can also leave the radio or a pod cast on while you're out. Just not too loud and make sure it's someone with a calm steady voice with no annoying commercials. My current foster bun seems to enjoy true crime podcasts. Audiobooks are also great. It's the lull of human voices that seems to be the calming factor--music doesn't have the same effect (in my experience). The more boring, the better.
