i am trying to understand my bunnies behavior. she was doing very well up till about a month ago when, i'm sure, she hit puberty. she is about 3 months old now and the vets will not spay her until she is 4 months. she was playful and eating well etc. a little destructive but that's to be expected. there is other behavior that we can understand but this is slightly baffling. I cant find any information anywhere on the net about this behavior. it has become more and more prominent recently.
this behavior pertains to her litter. she was just on the verge of being well trained. we had her going in a small area of their room; we have two bunnies, her and a male, who share a room to themselves. we were about 3 weeks away from her being completely litter trained until the hormones hit. she started peeing and pooping everywhere. it has settled down a bit since. she seems to pee in the litter boxes BUT she also tosses all the litter to the other side of the bin. We have been using yesterdays news, unscented. usually soft but there was one bag of regular texture as we couldnt find the soft stuff. since the change back to the soft she seems to be peeing in the bins more but this is also when she started pushing the litter to the other side. almost as if she doesnt want it where she pees. a problem with this is that she buries the hay we put in the box. now poop is still a problem and she still pees on occasion everywhere but its not as bad as the first week of puberty.
If anyone can help it would be appreciated. I am open to changing the litter in a bin to a different brand if it helps.
