Litter and sore hocks?

I’m curious are wood stove pellets good for sore hocks? I’m certainly using paper base it’s pretty soft but does get expensive. I want the litter at least to last quite a while so that I don’t need to keep buying so much all the time.

My rabbit has sore hocks and I still use wood pellets. They don’t seem to be hurting his feet, especially because it’s layered with hay on top. I get a 15L bag for £4. Snowflake Wood Based Cat Litter 15L | Wilko
You could also use wood pellets, with a small layer of paper bedding.

I used to use wood pellets and i don't think it ever hurt her feet , she does get sore hocks prettyy often .
I use carefresh now

My 15L bag lasts 6-8months depending on if I spill it or not, which happens a lot... and yeah, they are good at controlling odour. I change Apollo’s litterbox every four days. So about 2 times a week.

That pretty good I need to get some then my litter only last me 1 week. Know I have two buns so a little less.

The pine pellets I get last me a year and they are only $6. I clean Theo's litter box every 4 days, so 2 times a week, like @Apollo’s Slave.

I keep mine in the bag it comes in, but I will transfer some into a metal IKEA trash can for easy access. If I had a bale that didn't come in a bag, I would keep it in a wheel cart (see picture). I would leave the top open to let the air flow.

I store mine in an outside rabbit hutch that I don’t use anymore. But you could buy a storage container, like the ones that you can store shoes in, and keep it in there.

That depends on how many rabbits you own, how many litterboxes and how much you use. I just use a small layer. They are good at holding odours so you don’t need that much.

I think wood pellets are the best choice for odor control. They really absorb both odor and the urine itself. The pellets expand when they absorb so very little is needed compared to other pelleted litters. You can see photos of how much is used on the following page:

Yeah, it’s okay as long as it isn’t wet or has any Mold. The hay we get in London is brown. I have to get hay brought online.
