Six to eight weeks - well - that is when their mane starts to "bloom" as some of us call it.

But to really get it in pretty - about 12 weeks or so sometimes.

At what age do Lionheads start getting manes and looking like a lionhead?

Do you have a picture of your lion head? That might help me....

Part of it seems to depend upon the bloodlines. I have some that started blooming early and they're nice - others that bloom late and are nice and others that bloom early or late but aren't that great. I tend to like the late bloomers as I think it stays better - but then again - I've had some early bloomers that stayed well too.

Do you know if the rabbit is single or double mane? That might affect it also...

P.S. There are times I look at a rabbit and go "yuck" and a week later I'm like, "Oh my....what happened to you - you're awesome..?" and it happens just in a matter of hours or days.

He looks to me like a lion head mix - probably a single mane lionhead. He may not get a lot of mane and I'm not sure if he'll keep it or not.

I guess the best thing I can say is to watch him and see. But his ears make me think he's a lion head crossed with something else...

Ah - that explains it.

Well, he is a single mane lion head. He may have a "wisp" of a mane as an adult but he won't have the manes like other lion heads...

Sorry!

Unfortunately, many of my single manes lose their manes as adults or just keep tiny bits of it.

But he is a cutie!~

I am guessing it is because he is part lion head as my lion heads have different fur than some other breeds...

One more thing, doyou have a guess as to why he has longer fur than the short-hairedrabbits? His fur is much much longer than my dwarfhotot....

This is what he looked like when I first got him...now he is totally different...it's okay, though, I just can't believe that he looked so much like a lion head at first but now he look more like a dwarf hotot!
