Poplar just got home last night. I went and picked him up from the shelter and got to meet Stan! What a nice guy.
Poor Poplar is swollen after his surgery so now I need to ice Mr. No-Balls, I'm sure he's just going to love that. :rollseyes I had to go to my aunts to see her new baby so Poplar came along because he was being so calm and we were tight on time. On the way home I held him because I felt bad he was sliding around so much in his box. He is a shy little guy and I can tell wrangling him to put the ice on is going to be difficult.
Since he's still healing he's staying in the living room for now so he'll probably get a little more used to me and my boyfriend but he hasn't budged from his box yet today.
He's the kind of guy you just want to snuggle right up to... well so is Winston. I think I got the snuggliest and the most standoffish bunnies in the whole world.
After seeing Winston has been pushing and pulling on his cage I'm going to finish cleaning that spare room this week because I think he probably would be fine running around there on his own. When I've let him run around in there while supervised he doesn't chew anything and just enjoys running and hopping over things. Of course I can only give him a few hours of supervised play so I would be much more comfortable with letting him play on his own with just empty boxed to play in. I blame my boyfriend for saving so much stuff. I've found half empty lotion bottles that he has saved, which would be fine except they have been sitting in storage in the cold for a year before we finally got a place with space.
Poplar's box opening is facing me and I can see his little nose sniffing. I can't tell if he's asleep or not because I can't see his eyes. When I put down his morning veggies he must have got scared because he gave a mighty leap from inside his box. I felt bad for scaring him but I couldn't help but giggle, he must have forgot about the roof over his head.
I'm going to sit in his cage and watch tv so he gets better acquainted with me, but only if he seems comfortable in his cage when I stand and stuff.
I think I'll get my boyfriend to ice him so he doesn't hate me haha.

Didn't want to double post but it's too late to edit. I shared a little tender moment with Winston just now.
I just decided to go in and lay down with him since I just found out he is just fine wandering around alone in the room as long as his bags of food hay and litter aren't in there. So I lay down and eventually drift off. I wake up to something banging against my forehead. I open my eyes and see a little pair of eyes just over a piece of cardboard which he is banging on me. I stay like that for a few minutes beginning to really wish I brought a pillow. It was really cute because he was not even a foot away from me for such a long time without even using a tread. He smelled my face and everything. It was nice to watch him groom his paws and look at me. I also noticed he eats quite a bit of the cardboard he rips off but I didn't want to bug him since we were having a nice time. I gave him more hay after in case he just wants something to chew on that's rough but he still had lots in his litter. I'll have to keep an eye on how much he's actually eating. I'd hate to take his boxes away since he loves them so much.

That sounds like a nice bonding moment with Winston. It is difficult to stay awake sometimes while trying to be a human playground. Glad to hear that Winston was a good boy for the few seconds you were out. What a lovely way to wake up though! ;)

Well haven't updated in a bit so here is one.
Poplar is turning out to be the most reserved of the two. He mostly hides in his box but is slowly becoming more comfortable in his surroundings. When he lays down he tends to flop over onto his side and nap, he looks relaxed but I'm concerned that it might have something to due with his incision. I hope it isn't bugging him. It's really hard to check the testicles of an uncooperative bunny. I'm going to switch the two as soon as Poplar heals in order to get them used to each others scent but also because I think Poplar could due with some more privacy and Winston more attention.
I can start to feel like Winston is going to be a cuddly sort of guy, he has really calmed down and even stays still for a pet or two. When me and my boyfriend go visit him he doesn't hid and usually stays pretty close to us. Tonight he was tugging and pushing at his cage because he though it was play time. I think Winston does want someone to love and stroke him but he has a lot of trust issues. He is starting to open up and I hope by letting him continue at his own pace we will grow closer.
I'm also very happy with how my boyfriend has received the little guys. It makes me smile so much when I see him walk into Winston's room with a carrot in hand or laugh at Poplars yawns and stretches.
My life has been filled with a lot more fun now that the bunnies are around and I'm proud that I unwittingly adopted them in time for adopt a bunny month. I'm might start bunny dates next month depending on how well they receive the location switch and the scents of each other.
I don't want to get my hopes up but I think it will go well since I've pet Poplar and visited Winston right after and let him smell me and he doesn't seem to mind. Or maybe I'm so smelly I overpower it. Well fingers crossed!
