It's funny, gas prices hurt, but at the same time I was forced into a crash course on budgeting almost 7 years ago that could easily have broken me, but lessons learned really stuck with me and I always "pay myself first" out of each paycheck. You should have seen me at first though - I did as someone suggested and literally put money aside in marked envelopes for different bills/expenses... it was a bloody nightmare considering I can't keep track of much other than my immediate extremities...
Honestly, though, it is a pain not knowing how much to budget for even, with the flooding and gas prices as they are. I know some pay more but the worst I've experienced is $3.88/gallon and naturally when I filled up that paticular day well, the prices went down over 10 cents a gallon overnight.
This weekend is going to be busy. I work tonite from 8:30pm - 5:30am. When I get off work I'll make a few stops to check on a few people and to go shopping and when the feed store opens I'll see if they can't do any bulk order for me. If not, I have a lead from a co-worker who knows someone who knows...
As for the shelter animals, after the big flood event the city mandated some changes to restructure "organization" of time animals spend at the facility. No animal spends a great length there anymore, and in the event of an impending natural disaster, the decision can be made by suits-behind-desks to empty the kennels "via humane treatment".
I suppose, if and when a new facility is found, things will change, but for right now - in the aftermath of animals drowning in the floodwaters previously what *they* say goes.
For the most part, anyway.
