Truly glad to hear you got lots of good info. And so glad you feel more secure in what you heard. It must be scary and upsetting to have those letters show up all of sudden and know that though you broke ties long ago, somehow you are being watched and observed by someone who has no legitimate reason to do so.
Glad you have a game plan. Regarding talking to your daughter, like you say, she will look at you like you have three heads if you try to explain now. I think your best bet is to make her aware when she is of school age. Adults talk and children have big ears and will say something which if your daughter doesn't know will upset her.
