My bunnies have this problem too and I've taken them to the vet to get them medicine. My vet treated them both with Revolution (selamectin). I would recommend taking them to the vet it you believe that it's fur mites because there aren't many at-home remedies or medicine that you can buy without a vet prescription. There is a spray from Small Pet Select called Pestavert that can help prevent fur mites (Pestavert Spray). I use this on my rabbits once a week when I have to groom them! But this is not a substitution for taking them to the vet.Found large amount dander on the skin of one of my rabbit. Believe it is skin mites. Where can I buy medicine to treat all my rabbits in Canada?
That's good to know. It's not common for rabbits to have food allergies, and those causing a skin condition, but obviously it can happen, as your rabbit is proof. I compared the ingredients in those feeds. The main difference is that the 'select' feeds first ingredient is wheat middlings; and the 'shows' first ingredient is alfalfa, but also has probiotics. Maybe your rabbit was sensitive to too much wheat, or maybe the probiotics helped. Our bun had dander and we took him to the vet, he checked with a microscope and found no mites. We took him back a couple weeks later, still no mites. We changed his food and his "Dandruff" was gone in a month or so (it looked just like your pic). He's a giant breed and eats so much we were buying 50lb bags of manna pro select. We changed to manna sho and his fur and skin were transformed, which made him soooo much happier, no more itching and scratching, just happy binks and flops :] It may be possible to buy a small l.e.d. microscope on amazon and check your bunnies skin (if you can't make it to the vet), we got one for cheap and I check his skin weekly now, lol. There are some writings online to help with what magnification and looking for mites.
Well after you get her healthy , you are going to have a beautiful young lady bun named Frank that will thank you for saving her from them. Kudo's for rescuing her, even if it was from a breeder.Well, I don't have choice. Canada doesn't have any chemicals for sale. Nothing about animal drugs for sale without prescription. Vet is good for one or two rabbits, but not for many of them. China has ivermectin for animals for sale. I believe I will buy water soluble powder type for a large pack and try one rabbit first.
Hei! Since I bought this Netherland Drwaf from a registered breeder 1.5 hour away from my location, I got so much trouble. She is here taking my cage and do nothing butà⁹ numerous problems.
The story is that I call the breeder to buy a male baby within four kits of a litter from her. I asked her to keep all for 2 hour for me to chose one from. She give me address, and I drove there. On half way, she called me and told me she already reserved a male baby for some other buyer. I said I already drove half way, and let her just keep a darkest male among three for me. She said ok, but said the address is some meetup location of a fast food store. I should have realize that is too tricky and refuse to go there, because I already have some poor experiences of buying something from someone not giving home address to me. Since she is a registered breeder, I chose to trust her, and still drove there to meet at the store. To my surprise, she brought all four kits for me to choose. This is another bad sign that I should quit but I didn't. I picked the darkest one and she said this is a male for sure. Again I trusted her as registered breeder would not make a mistake for sexing a 7 weeks old bunny, otherwise I would do my own. So I chose to have name FRANK on the pedigree. When I drove another 1.5 hour back to home, I found he was she. Soon later, I found she has eye discharge, I gave antibiotic eye drops, she is still sometimes good and sometimes bad. As she grows, I found she sometimes had problems for balance. Now I found she may have fur mites. This is not the experience that I have with my other rabbits.
Believe me or not, never buy anything from one doesn't want give you his/her home address without a solid proper reason.
I'm in a small town near the great lakes in the U.S., Very safe here. We always lived in big cities but never again... You can have a McMansion here for cheap, while being safe, on a large plot of land, with great neighbors.Another bad signal is while I pick this black otter ND, I noticed there was a small spot on head had short hair. Then this spot grew white hair some days later.
In Canada, it's pretty safe. I always give my address to buyers. Sometimes invite them inside home if weather is not comfortable outdoor. Sellers also invited me into their apartments for pick something. My experiences were most time bad here while the Seller refuse to give address. Sometimes missing parts in a package, Sometimes not working, Sometimes not showing up. One time I drove 2.5 hour to go pickup, the seller didn't show up. I called she said she would come but never show up and didn't pick phone anymore. I wait like 2 hours, and drove 2.5 hour back to home. The next day, I saw the Seller raised the price online.
I used to work in great Los Angeles. When I just arrived there. My sister was so surprised that I walked on street at midnight. I then realized that why people walked away from me when they saw me. They saw me as a danger.
Although there seems a few cases more these days here in Toronto, it is a lot more safe than large city in US. Guys, if you think safety is important, move to Canada. Here are beautiful large lands of nature everywhere, even in this large city of Toronto.
Interesting, how much? Toronto house price jumped so high these years but now is dropping, so it's good time to hold money and wait for the next opportunity.I'm in a small town near the great lakes in the U.S., Very safe here.
