That still happens in Paris. There aren't a lot of public toilets. It seems there are families who stake out public toilets and extort money for using them and giving you TP. Some are very aggressive and unpleasant. I learned that the big department stores have bathrooms that are much better than the public toilets. The worst bathroom bullies are around the museums.

Oh gross haha! I've never been into a public toilet that didn't have toiletpaper etc or something to hang my bag from, or wet puddles on the floor, that's icky.

The worst public toilets in Toronto are on the TTC our underground train system. I can't bring myself to go it's absolutely disgusting, no toilet paper, writing and puddles everywhere and no soap. Plus there is always some drunken or drugged up person, very unsafe.

Oh and the harbour front and center island ones are awful. The mall and department stores are ok, especially the ones at the Bay (hudsons bay) they're actually quite beautiful.

I hang my purse from the toilet paper dispenser if there is no hook. Or it it's a big dispenser I balance it on top.
