Hey,
What do you guys do to stop your Bun from kicking out its litter all the time? This morning I woke to my Buns litter all over her cage floor and she had peed and pooped all over her cage cause the litter was on the floor. This is my third time having to clean up her cage because of this? I've seen litter boxes with a cage on top of it so she cant kick it out? Is that what I should do? What can I do in the mean time cause ill have to wait till the first to be able to get it.

A grate over the litter can help. You don't have to buy a litter box with a grate as you can easily make one using wire mesh. In a pinch, a cookie sheet (for cooling baking) can work. Some people have success with plastic stitching screens, but some rabbits will chew them.

I've used a few different screens to deter my buns from digging in the litter box. The cross stitch plastic canvas works well and is easy to cut to size, but may not work if your bun is a chewer. I prefer the 5 count with the bigger holes.

My buns would chew the cross stitch screens, so I ended up making different screens made out of plastic edging and pet window screening which they didn't seem inclined to chew. If your bun chews plastic screens, you may need to use metal ones. You can either make or buy wire mesh screens.

You can also buy litter boxes with screens made for them.

I personally prefer the softer plastic screens over the metal ones as they are softer on bunny feet, if you have a bun that won't chew at them. And with the small holes in the screen, this allows pee to drain down to the litter to be absorbed, and keeps the bunnies poop on top of the screen that is easily dumped into the trash each day.

Some litter box set up info and screens.
