Just a few questions!

I have a 2 year old holland lop, he's such a sweetheart! I've had him outside all his life because I live with my parents but they're finally comfortable with me having him indoors. He's the sweetest little bunny ever! he follows me around everywhere, he reminds me of a puppy. he's never been aggressive/hormonal except that he humps anything in his site. he isn't territorial and has never bit or lunged at me or anything, my other rabbits have done that. he's great with kids and will let anyone pick him up and do anything with him, most rabbits tend to not like that. I love him so much and I feel like my bond with him would be better if I kept him indoors, hopefully in my bedroom.

Since Im planning on having him indoors, I'm considering neutering him. he's such a tame and sweet rabbit I'm not sure if this would change that? like would he forget me or anything? I have to do more research on the pros and cons of neutering. the only reason I want to is because I'm sure it would be easier to litter box train him and he won't want to hump everything. Money isn't a problem but I've never had any of my rabbits fixed so I'm not sure of the risks and I don't want to loose him. Also any advice on what setup I should have indoors for him would be great! and will it be harder to litter box train him since he's already 2 years? Thanks everyone!

Also, since my main reason for neutering him would be because he humps everything, will neutering make him permanently stop that? he literally humps everything ALL the time and I feel bad for him because I'm sure it's his hormones. other then that he's perfect

Neutering will stop the humping and decrease the toileting everywhere. It's possible his personality could change slightly if you're used to his hormonal self, he might be less boisterous. But no he won't forget you, and he'll still be the same bunny!

We neutered ours at 4 mths. His personality hasn't changed at all. He's much better with his litter box and isn't as stinky. Besides that he's the same old silly bunny.

My male is intact and lives indoors. He has never mounted anything though and I have no issues with his litter habits.

I did take in two intact females that my neighbor was going to let loosed. They were about 1 1/2 years old and I litter trained them. It took about two weeks. Because they are intact I believe they will occasionally pee outside of the litter box but they only do that in their cage which has a plastic bottom so no big deal. They have never peed outside of the cage and only drop an occasional poo.

Neutering wont change his personality drastically. If he's already sweet he'll stay sweet. Like anything else their personalities are part nature part nurture. Neutering a cat or dog doesnt change who they are. Same thing with rabbits.

I had my two boy rabbits neutered and have seen nothing but positive behavior changes. I would suggest that you get pain medication to bring home with you after the neutering (I got Metacam) to prevent him from getting grumpy from any pain.

Your rabbits personal will not change drastically, but you should see a calmer and happier bunny. More positive changes than anything else. If you are not planning on having babies, I would 100% recommend getting him neutered.

He will never forget you.

I do not believe you should have a problem litter training, but it might depend on your rabbit. Going indoor provides a brand new environment and that may help in the process. After you bring him indoor, he will pick a corner he wants to use the restroom in. Throw a box into the corner he picks. I have found that is the easiest way to litter train.

Since your bunny is over 2 years old, the humping should subside with time. After the surgery, it will take roughly 4-8 weeks for his hormones to go away and you should slowly see a decrease in the amount of time he humps.

Thank you everyone for the replies! they're all very helpful. I'm going to talk to my vet and hopefully get him neutered sometime soon
