Shaded Night Rabbitry

So with 10 babies in the box right now, and four more litters before September, I'm scrambling to figure out cage space.
I expect to have ~15 juniors to use for fair. My two wooden four holes hold my eight senior show and brood animals.
I'm hoping to get atleast 8 holes to try to handle the juniors. At the ages they'll be at, I'll still be able to get away with the younger litters staying with their mothers through fair. After that, I'll be making my cuts and going down to the number of cages I have. Hopefully the sales will help me pay my parents back a bit for the stock I had to buy this year.
But I haven't decided on the cages yet. I'll be building stands, and getting trays, for whatever I end up buying. I like the 24 x 24's because I have extra pans already, but I get my pans for free. I just hate to stress out my uncle with needing so much from him.
So here are my options:
From Woody's Wabbits. (WHO I MUCH PREFER OVER BASS...)
18 by 18, 14 high. $14.95 each. (1 compartments. 14.95 a hole.)
18 by 24, 14 high. $16.50 each. (1 compartments. 16.50 a hole.)
From Bass Equipment
36 by 24, 14 high. $39.90 each. (3 compartments, 12 by 24. 13.30 a hole.)
36 by 24, 14 high. $34.10 each. (2 compartments, 18 by 24. 17.05 a hole.)
I guess it comes down to... Is it cruel to put 12 week old juniors, who weigh about a pound, in 12 by 24 cages for perhaps two months? Is it cruel, with an hour minimum of out of the cage time a day, per rabbit, to keep them in that throughout winter? Is 18 by 18 any better?
I can't afford to go much larger; it's just not in the budget. I'm leaning towards the 3 compartment 12 by 24s. Not only are they the cheapest, they also fit into my rabbitry much easier. I could possibly splurge a little and go up to the 18 by 24's, but they don't fit in the space I have as nicely. At the same time, that's a much more acceptable size for an adult dwarf. I still think my 24 by 24 holes are small for my bucks. And 24 by 48 gets tiny once you put a litter of 6 in there with a mom.
Anywho. What's everyone elses take on what I should do? The set up would be simple. I'll post a doodle of what I plan to do with them later tonight.
