i have a giant cardboard barrier that is 30 in. tall and has a curve at the top, it blocks off the other half of the room that would probably be impossible to bunny-proof (a bunch of wires, things he could chew and wreck etc) he somehow jumps over the 30 in. cardboard and makes it too the other side! :pullhair:
and he is only 4-5 months old! I've seen him do it right in front of me, sometimes he doesn't make it and falls down, i'm afraid he might hurt himself one of these days, right now i locked him up in his cage. and his (andy) side has a ping-pong table that my brothers use, any higher i'll need a door!
any idea of a barrier i could use? i'm lucky he hasn't chewed the cords on the other side.

You can get exercise pens that are 3 feet high or maybe higher that can be used as a barrier. Coroplast (corrugated plastic) comes in 4 x 8 feet lengths, you can try that as a barrier. Coroplast can be found in sign shops (call around, prices vary a lot).

Also you can get "organizer grids" that are sold at Sears (and other stores), they are made of metal (usually are 14" square with 1 1/2" grid openings) and many people use them for building animal cages. They can be cable-tied together to make a barrier.

Perhaps taping on another level of cardboard and then angle it in at the top will work (such that jumping up may hit the angled-in top and stop him)?

Just some thoughts off the top of my head.

get a exercise pen, put a topper on it and that should contain him. Some rabbits though... aren't easy to contain. :) Had one that would escape from anything. couldn't always figure out how he did it...

:roflmao: 30 inches is NOTHING. Rabbits are professional jumpers and some of them can jump really high with no run-up whatsoever. I used to take the vegetables in my room and put them on a high shelf before getting ready for the night so that I could use dinner to lock the rabbits in their pens. After like a week, I found my 3 month rabbit on the shelf, munching on the vegetables (he wasn't that good at jumping back on the ground though and always looked kinda surprised when he landed on the furniture, as if he had no idea he could jump that high). I noticed my lops jumped way higher than my nethie ever did, though.

Personnally I used adjustable cube storage to make a pen. It's a pretty popular choice in France. It's like that :

It's in French but scroll down and there are photos of one way to do it

You can clip the panel with the black things anyway you want and it's pretty cheap so you can make high walls and give the pen the form you want. Now that my rabbits have their own part of the house, I recycled them as shelves for documents and a coffee table.
It worked well for most people I know and for me... until Tybalt who jumps high and CLIMBS too. But he is a particularly difficult rabbit when it comes to containing and putting cardboard against the "walls" at night was enough to take care of the problem XD

Still, I would put hard plastic protection on your electrical cords (the really hard one) just in case. It's cheap in any hardware store. It's a bit of a pain to put on the cords, but it would prevent tragic accidents for your cords and the rabbit if he ever escapes again (I did it when I lived in a flat after one of my monsters ate a multi-socket cord - it was a miracle he didn't kill himself but the multi-socket was definitely dead ^^').

@aki, the ones at the bottom pics andy could easily jump ;) yeah i've seen the grids before stormy rabbits uses them (bunny youtuber)

@ thumping berry yeah i was thinking grids,

@ladysown yeah i've seen some, but i feel like some are too small for him to do bunny 500s
how much space should a mini rex have?

The exercise pen can be used as the barricade - not actually as a "pen." In other words, you use it to stretch across the length of a door opening or the length of a room as a barricade. They are available up to 48" tall.

Here is his setup and the where I have the barrier, their are just doors that we rarely use on his side, and that giant red pole I believe was their for doors (which would be nice if we had now!)
(I don't have an actual camera, so the pic quality is bad)

Ohhhh!! Love the photo too!
That one is a little pricey though lol

Here's the other (white) brand of the pen:

The first one I linked, though, has various heights you can get. The one (not the white one) is 36" but you can get 48" too.

Exercise pens are well worth their price. I consider them a necessity for any rabbit owner. They just have so many uses and come in handy for so many applications -- from permanent housing to temporary cages, to occasional outside playtime area and for barricading.
