I picked up the most adorable otter Jersey Woolie buck at the auction about 2-3 weeks ago, the lady I was with said that he looked about 8 weeks, I was hoping to send a pic to someone who raises Jersey Woolies to tell me how old he looks, and how long it will take him to get fluffy :]

Also, I read something say Jersey Woolies were created by breeding a Netherland Dwarf Buck to a French Angora doe? Is this true? If so could I try it?I own both breeds :?

I will have to email the pic because I have dial up and it takes forever for anything to load :[ The msn picture uploader works pretty fast though! But I just need to know lol

By 8 weeks, a purebred wooly should have a coat of wool already. It will be a plush baby coat, but the wool should be apparent.

Was it pedigreed? How do you know it's a wooly? I'd love to see pics to, that might help! :)

Oakridgerabbits can I email you a pic? If so email me at [email protected], then I will reply with the pic :]Like I said I have dialup and the quickest way is too email it to someone lol He does not have a pedigree, but the lady I know breeds them & she said he was a Jersey. You can tell by looking at him that he is a Jersey :] He does have a plush coat, with a small amount of wool, it is hard to explain!

bunnybunbunb I understand this :] I just hope to try it out and see what happens!

Is it possible that he was living with another rabbit who ate his fur....It happens :)

Later on tonight, I will try to post a pic of an 8 week old wooly.

Sharon

Thank you Sharon! It is quite possible!

OakRidgeRabbits I will send you the pic asap! Please do post it! Thank you, you are a great help!

Sharon, your pic looks like it has a coat kinda like his

P.S I will senda couple, post whichever ones you think are best, these pics are bad, I don't like taking pics indoors, but it was raining outside, so that was out of the questions lol

Here are your woolie pics. :)

He looks around 10-12 weeks old to me and a black otter Jersey Wooly. He looks to have a pretty good coat, considering his age. The one thing I did notice are those longggg ears...he may not be one that you'd want to show or breed depending on how long they are in person.

If you breed him to a netherland will that not ruin the wool quality? Or do you not want woolie babies? And if not why not just keep him as a pet and breed the netherlands to themselves?

He is a pretty, what is he? Is that called Sable Martin? I never can keep sables and smokes in the martins right.

It looks like a black or seal marten. Breeding to a Netherland will produce offspring with normal coats. The best option is to breed to a good JW.
