My Holland Lop has been shedding sooo much. I brushed him out yesterday, and now his fur looks like this...

I am supposed to be taking him to our county fair tomorrow morning and showing him Sunday. I don't really want to show him when he looks like this! What is wrong with his fur?! And can I do ANYTHING about it before tomorrow?! His fur is SO UNEVEN. =(

That is the way that Benjamin sometimes shed especially if it has been hot all of sudden the fur just lets loose in great patches. I don't know what you can do about it by sunday. He has just had a great big shed, which I would personally think is pretty normal as far as heat spells go.

That is pretty normal. Some of the fur sheds out faster than other areas, so you can get some odd looking rabbits. There is really not much you can do about it other than keep working on the coat to get the shedding fur out.

If you still want to show him you can, but don't expect him to do well. If you do showmanship, then his condition should not matter so much as it is more focused on you than him. You can also take him for the comments from the judge on his body type and other factors.

My Flemish did exactly that same pattern of shedding a few years ago. Although he started it about an hour AFTER he was judged at the fair. I said he'd been wearing his saddle too long (big bunny and all ^_^).

I decided this year to keep a container of Benjamin's fur just to see how much he sheds in a summer. One of those large ( the biggest in the store) containers from summer/herb salad mix stuffed and pressed full. Some bunnies are great shedders.
Just keep brushing and damp handing him to prevent fur balls.

I just mailed off 3.7 oz of angora wool from one rabbit yesterday. I have been collecting since March. I'm always shocked at the volume of fur that comes off of him with every brushing. Now I understand why the rescue had him shaved rather than brush all the time, but I like him fluffy. Hopefully before winter I will have a scarf from Houdini hair :)
