indoors/outdoors, which is better?

Hello everyone, we just got a 6 week oldnetherland dwarf bunny. The people we got her from were keeping all oftheir rabbits outdoors in hutches under some trees, she was also raisedoutside. We live in FL and temps here are around 85-90 during the nextfew months. My question is...... currently we are keeping her in ourgarage, it's a finished garage meaning it has an actual ceiling insteadof just rafters. The garage temp is generally around 80 at the hottestpart of the day. Is this dangerous for her being she was raisedoutdoors? We were going to keep her indoors but our house temp isgenerally around 74-75, hubby likes it cool in here and I was worriedbeing she was raised outdoors that it might be too chilly for her whichis why she's being kept in the garage. Any advice as to what temps Ishould be keeping her at being she was raised outdoors before we gother? Thanks so much!

Bunnies are generally quite adaptable to changes as long as they are not extreme.

I have had bunnies from outside move into the house, and bunnies frominside move outside, but I have always used our porch as a halfwayhouse to adjust them to a drop, or increase in temp before putting themin their final home.

If you want your bun indoors, try and get it used to the change intemp. Maybe bring it inside for a couple of hours everyday, maybe inthe evenings when it is cooler, and get it used to it like that.

Because your bunny is young it will probably moult soon which meansthat you also have that to help you too, because they moult to fit thetemp they are in, so if you can get it used to a hotter temp, then whenit moults, it will moult to suit that temp.

Congratulations,70 is not too cold.80 is not too hot ,but rabbits get heatsrtoke easily.the garage or indoors is safer.bluebird

Hi there - chillier is better forrabbits. Your house temp is actually agood temp forthe bunnies, the would like it indoors.

They can overheat very fast, so if you can bring them in- youshould! They are so much more fun indoors anyway.

If you leave them in the garage - 80 is "ok" but border line I think...it can get too hot for them, and you will have to make sure you coolthem down with lots of air circulation, frozen water bottles and othertechniques for keeping them cool.

i keep my rabbits indoors... i used to have rabbits when i was younger and they didn't do to well outside...
