Since I will be going to pick up my two girls soon (and very excited). I was wondering what everyone loves most about bunny ownership. And what is the biggest pain? Its all meant to be in good fun :biggrin2:

I love owning my 2 baby bunnies :biggrin2:I love watching them sleep, lay around, eat, binky :)Their in the living room so I can watch them whenever I want. I love holding them too. Rascal is good about this, but Daisy isn't. Lol.

The bad part is how much the Doctor charges when they go to the vet!!! :X

I think the best part is how much Scone is devoted to me. He just has to be wherever I am - not necessarily to beg for petting (though he does that, too), but just to lie down where he can watch what I'm doing. He's loving, intelligent, mischevious and just plain fun to watch, and those are good parts, too.

The worst part is worrying about him when he's not feeling well. Bunnies are so good at hiding illness, you have to get to know how they normally act and eat, and watch for really small changes.

The best thing is watching Babii grow from just a little thing, to this cranky old lady ;), just kidding, but it's nice to see her at every stage in her life, and me being totally responsable for her.

Worst part is, the thing peopel say that are really inconsiderate. My uncle jokes EVERY family meal (thanksgiving, christmas, ect..) that he's going to make 'stew' and he knows it bugs me soo much. Now the others have picked up and I dread family gatherings.

I love watching them play. I love watching their reaction to new things. I love they way they sit and lay in weird places or in strange ways. The way they get excited when it is time to eat.

I don't like it when they poop outside their litter box, especially when it is on my carpet. I don't like the vet costs. I don't like that they eat my house. Other then those 3 things, I love everything about them and everything they do. They can put a smile on my face and make me laugh when I am having a bad day.

I love how silly they are, and how they can always make you laugh no matter how aweful you feel. <3

Vet bills are definatly the worst! And when they go destructo-bun on you, and eat your things.

The best part about owning a bunny is the love they give you and the joy also. I love my two rabbits. They binky and Sweetie gives me bunny kisses. I am still working with Prince on that.

The bad part is the vet bill when I have to take them in to see the vet.

I get the rabbit stew thing from friends a lot about my rabbits. The one I think is funny is: I will have that one grilled and that one barbequed. That was from one of my neighbors

Best part is seeing how funny they can be. They are so silly and fun to watch! They are such wonderful companions... they don't make too much noise so they make real good "listeners" :) Well, I talk to my buns all the time so I guess they have no choice but to listen! :)

Worst part is worrying about their health. I know a lot of members on RO share the same bunny parental anxiety. They are so good at hiding their pain that you have to be so careful and sensitive to their expressions, routines, etc.

I think they are wonderful in so many ways but also in different ways. Every rabbit I have had the joy of meeting has had a different personality. Abby was a very joyful bunny and so full of herself. Binx was a cuddler and such a soft tempered lil guy. Tony is a big lovebug and he is so outgoing. He lets basically everyone pet and hold him and doesn't care. Kate seems so very quiet and reserved, almost dignified if a 6 week old baby can be dignified.

The worst part is how short of a lifespan they have. I am not refering to accidental deaths but in general. I have always wanted my pets to live longer but they seem to have such a short life span to me and this part is disheartening.

There are so many things I love about my rabbit, I'd be here for days if I typed them all out. So I'll only post what I don't like.

-Chewed up headphones. But that's obviously my fault, not the rabbit's. But chewed up carpet/baseboards/ect.

-Shedding. :twitch:

-Vet bills. Again not the rabbit's fault.

-Bayou is very easily startled in the dark, and sometimes I forget to let him know that I'm getting up and he flips out and sometimes messes up his cage. It more scares me than anything.

That's pretty much it though. I love that they don't need flea meds (usually) and no vaccinations. Also, on the rare occasion Bayou has an accident, pellet poop is much more... erm, pleasant to clean up than cat/dog poop.

Watching him run around is so entertaining because he's so adorable and binkies make me smile even on the worst day. When I come home he seems happy to see me, but I don't have to worry about him barking and jumping all over me. He's generally very quiet unless he's angry which he lets me know with a loud thump instead of a hiss and a scratch. Bulding NIC cages are fun too, in my opinion.

Whoops, I didn't mean to type out a whole story. I just love my bunny that much!:blushan:

the good things are too numerous to mention but it's watching them interact with each other, the dogs and us:D

the downside has to be the trip to the vet - not so much the bill but the worry about the health of the bunny:nerves1

cleaning up after them is part and parcel of having animals in your life - lot cleaner than my skin kids too;)

Best part about rabbits... When my guys are running around, having a good time, and then they hop on over to me and crawl into my lap for cuddles. I love that.

The best: the feeling of complete love I get when I look at the bunnies, and seeing them enjoy themselves.

Worst (other than death/delicate health issues): cleaning up all the hay off the carpet! Rargh! I can't give them hay without it getting on the carpet and it's hard to pick up :(

the best part of rabbit ownership is seeing your bunnies happy, just a binky from a happy bun can put a smile on my face.

The worst aspect is like Angieluv said the vet bills, because they are exotics it is an arm and a leg just to walk in the door of the vet, and god forbid you want test or anything like that done.

Another bad aspect is the worry t hat you go through, i have never worried about an animal so much then i do the buns, because of how quickly they can go down hill. I worry when th ey dont finish their food, i worry when there isnt the normal amount of food, i worry when i hear a sneeze, i worry if they seem mopey, i worry when they have accidents, and on and on and on and on and on,lol

Thanks everyone for the info. Im so excited for my girls to get here. I have a ton of homemade and store bought toys and treats awaiting thm. Come on Wed!!! LOL

The rabbit savvy vet thread was helpful. I was able to find a rabbit vet right here in my city which is great luck.

Best: Watching them play, playing with them, pettingthem, buying stuff for them, doing up their cages, talking to them, bunny kisses, their differentpersonalitys, the funny things they do,emm loads more I just love having them around!

Worst: Hmm there isn't much I don't like, maybe clipping nails and cleaning out their cages, mostly because I can't get them clean enough for my liking. I can't complain about vets bills my vet is good and not expensive.
