I don't drink any water at all. I mean none.

So I am only drinking water for a month. I had a blood test for something and they checked my suger and said I am in the pre stages of diabites.

They asked about the way I eat. And they said that the pops are the worst thing right now. I dont really eat that bad and I have to do a minumum of 1 hour of walking to more extercise a day.

I drink very sweet tea. Pops and kool aide. So If I can do it for a month I can do it for the rest of my life. I can still drink stuff but I have to do a month of nothing but water for myself to relize I can do this.

Just talking about it out loud and seeing if anyone else has done this

You're going to eat.. food right ?

I think it's a good idea (if food is included of course) and alot more people should take that 'challenge'. Even like, 1 week on, 1 week off.
How many pops on average do you drink a week ?
Just curious. Don't be shy..
I drink about 1-2 a day, bad I know.. but I always have to be drinking something so the pop is usually deluted by 5-6 bottles of water.

For some reason I can't get water down my throat. I can have it in my mouth and whatever but when I try to swallow it I gag. :p
I drink Milk and some Propel water. That's about it.

I know someone who wants to do this thing were you only drink water for 1 week. No food, just water, to cleanse your body and get rid of the toxins in it.

I hope you mean you plan to eat too, like Brandy said.
Good luck!

I wouldn't do this, personally. It's just not healthy or sustainable- any weight lost will be put back on once you start eating and drinking normally.

It sounds boring, but I think that the best way to lose weight and be healthy is just to eat a healthy balanced diet- soft drinks and 'bad things' are ok in moderation, just not all the time!

I've found in the past that trying 'strict' diets never worked- I would get bored so easily because I didn't allow myself to have anything that I was craving, so I'd just give up and go straight back to my old ways.

Saying that, if you were to eat a normal healthy diet, you might be ok with just drinking water- I know people who just don't like other drinks so all they drink is water, but don't deprive yourself too much or you will just get bored and fed up and unhappy! :p

No I am still going to eat and change my eating habits also. But the doctor told me that The amount of suger and carbs I drink is the worst.

I drink easily 3 bottle pops a day Dr. Pepper, Rootbeer, And Pibb Extra are my 3 favorite. And another 2 cups of kool aide.

On top of that I drink about 4 to 5 cups a day of tea. And we like is very sweet. About 3 cups of suger for one gallon of tea. Yes I know thats a lot. That why he said even if I changed my drinking habbits I would most likly loose 30 pound from that alone.

And help my pancresis (sp) Start working normally again. I would not be so sick all the time like dissey and stuff. And not nearly as tired cause my body is always trying to figure out the suger.

I need to break the habit even if my health is not a huge issue now it will be soon.

I am at 297 # and I am only 5'6.

i am going to change my diet by where i would eat 2 pb&j sandwhich and some cips i am going to eat one PB&J and a orange. And some health snack instead of chips.

I know how the things go about strict diet and stuff I am teaking how i eat. Not so much what I eat the doctor told me I really dont eat a lot its what i eat.

I eat 3 packages of oat meal for breakfast.

So now I will eat one and a banana. Then eat another fruit or vegy alter on when I get hungry.

And lunch you see.

Then dinner add a vegy every night where I would just eat hamburger helper. I can add peas and green beans in the mix. So just because I dont like peas I wont taste them but there in the meal.

And no more eating past 5 pm.

And I will start biking with phoenix everyday and walking her at night befor I go to bed.

I am trying not to get on a diet

I want a life style change. I really wantto be able to go to work for 8 to 10 hours and not be so tired when I get home that i fall asleep on the couch. Like I could when I was 15.

I just want a real life again.

Well this sounds like a good plan. I agree with Jen about not restricting yourself too much. As for the water have you ever thought of those flavor packets or flavored water? They have ones that are not loaded with sugar and bad chemicals because you don't want those. I bet that would help. I have a hard time drinking just water unless it's summer, than I'll drink if it's cold easily. The rest of the time I'll drink Orange Juice or Apple Juice - there are good juices out there for you too that are not loaded with sugar, you should give yourself a bit of that so it won't seem so bad.

Definately try eating as much veg as possible, and if you only like certain kinds just eat those in different ways, try and be open to different veggies and different ways of cooking them. Something you don't normally like you might like if you cook it a certain way. Of course it helps if you enjoy cooking, if not I'd look for quick and easy meals that you can do fast but that are healthy for you, there are lots of those :) We are having a curry with rice tonight - so easy 1/2 hour and you are done.

Good luck!

Juice is great- we buy only the pure stuff with no added sugars in. I am addicted to grape juice! I sometimes water it down a bit to make it less 'rich', and it lasts longer LOL. Steve also recently quit caffiene drinks like coke and red bull etc and he now drinks flavoured fizzy water. It's next to no sugar and he prefers it to just regular water.

Also, how about making smoothies? With low-fat yoguhrt and fresh fruit? Super healthy and filling too! :)

Good on you for wanting to make a lifestyle change, as opposed to just a drastic diet- if you do it sensibly it will be much easier to keep up :)

I buy the water flavorings at Walmart (their version - not the Crystal Light version)....I can't get water down if it doesn't have some flavor. My doctor recommended I go this way since I'm prediabetic also.

The problem with strict diets like what you're wanting to put yourself on - is that when you start eating "normal" you'll gain weight back and have your metabolism messed up. Your doctor should've sent you to a nutritionist to recommend a healthy eating plan. I know my doctor and the dietitian have said I could lose weight even eating 1800 calories per day (I'm way overweight)....but its a matter of eating the right 1800 calories and of course - increasing my exercise too.

Anyway - I like the water idea - but if you need help - I recommend the water flavorings - they're like 0 calories or 10 calories maybe...

It was a flook that I went after coming home from the ER with the flu they took some blood work cause they thought I might be pregant.

And sense I wa always thirsty and such he asked me a lot of questions he asked if he could do this test I said sure. Then my mom took me back when I came home we went back to talk to him in his office.

She herd all this and she was mad. I was never over weight as a kid something happend when I was 17 and I ballooned out. She told me she was adding me to her insurence and we where going to get this under controle. All they had to say to me was pre diabetic. I watch my bialogical grandfather die from complications and loose both his legs.

Needless to say weight is not a real issue in my biological family. Not this young at least. So once I get on her insurence I am going to a nutrtionnist. And eye doctor regular doctor. get my shoulder cat scanned man I am going to be in doctor offices for the next 3 months.

I kept telling her everything was fine. But her coming out here she found out real quick is was not. She looked in my fridge. :rollseyes

I have gained a 150 pounds in 3 years. And we can bairly afford to eat.

Juice has a ton of calories and sugars too (just look at the label), so replacing a lot of the stuff you drink now with juice wouldn't necessarily be the way to go. A lot of parents don't give their kids juice because it's not actually that good for them. Many juices don't have a lot of sugar too, you have to look at the label to see if they do or not. That being said, I love orange juice and Dole 100% juice blends that are in the refrigerated section.

The way I usually drink juice is to pour some in a glass, then fill the glass the rest of the way with sparkling water (the bubbly kind). I do a ratio of about 1/4 juice, 3/4 water. It tastes REALLY good with any kind of juice and is similar to soda but much better for you. Bottles of sparkling water often go flat quickly, but you can buy it in cans for cheap too.

Good luck with your weight loss!

We have a rule in derby, if your pee has color, meaning not clear, then your not drinking enough water.

I drink approximately 8 to 10, 10 oz glasses of water per day.

I completely cut out soda, tea, Starbucks, energy drinks.

And it's really eating after 8 pm.. not 5.. eating after 5 tends to make you wanna snack later in the evening cause your tummy starts grumbling earlier.

Vitamins and stuff would help with your energy. I take Gluco and Chrondritan daily for my joints, Super Omega 3,6,9, Calcium, and my Daily Vitamin.

Getting rest helps.. studies show proper rest contributes to better body weight. Plus.. if your asleep.. your not eating!

Another thing about cutting down on soda...... It's really bad for your teeth. Not just the sugar, but most sodas are really acidic. I went to the dentist last year, it had been a couple years since I had been, and the dentist really got on me about soda. I drink diet, because I don't really like a lot of sugar, and prefer the diet ones. But still, I was drinking two or three during the week, and 5 or more on the weekends. So now I just drink one. That's it, no more. We buy it in cans, so I'm limited to just the one can. Especially since I had to have 7 fillings last year. They were all "minor" cavities, but I had never had a cavity in my life. (Soda is expensive, too, so I have saved money while I save my teeth!)

I frequently suffer from mild dehydration, because most of the time I don't get thirsty. I have to be out in the sun in the summer, doing something strenuous to actually feel thirsty. Even then, if I go inside and cool off, the thirst feeling will go away and I will forget to drink water. I think many of my frequent headaches are from dehydration, and some of my joint aches, too.

I now carry a water bottle with me (refillable, I refuse to pay for water), so I at least have water if I want it. i also drink hot tea in the mornings, always unsweetened. I try to force myself to drink a certain amount each day. When I was first trying to force more water into myself, I did get those flavored packets. I eventually decided to just stop buying them and drink straight water. In the summer, I really like iced tea, but I don't like it sweetened.

I really like milk, but I drink 1%, and I only have one glass with dinner. I use the smaller "rocks" glasses, so it's closer to an 8- ounce serving. A tall water glass is really closer to 2 or 3 servings (which is good for water).

I would suggest tackling one change at a time. I know you would like to change your overall eating habits, but I think it is easier to stick with if you make one or two changes, then get used to that, then make a couple more changes, and go from there. I've known people who change their diet radically, and a couple months later they can't stick with it any more. Be aware, when you first start reducing the amount of food you are eating, you will feel hungry, because your body is used to a certain amount. Drinking water will help a bit with this, too.

Once you are able to see a nutritionist, he/she will be able to help you a lot with what is the most important, and good tips on how to do it.

Starting out by cutting out sugary drinks, though, will be a really good first step!

I like bottled water and I even freeze it so that it's got lots of little pieces of ice in it. Otherwise, I can't drink it without something chocolate LOL!

Good for you for doing something!

My tricks to drinking lots of water is to always have a water bottle with me. I also buy lemon (real lemons) and slice them up and throw a couple slices in my huge water bottle when I am just sick of the thought of drinking plain water. I've heard that by just cutting out pop/soda, you can drop at least 10 lbs. However, Jen has a point about the moderation thing too. Sometimes if you deprive yourself of something you just end up thinking about it more and it becomes even harder. I try to use the 80-20 rule. At least 80% of the time I try to eat/drink healthy but if I'm really craving something, it's better to have a little bit (maybe a child's size fountain drink) rather than focus on what I'm missing all day.

As far as eating past 5 p.m., I've heard it's ok as long as your last food is at least 2 hours prior to your bedtime. So if you go to bed at 10:00 p.m., try to have a small snack around 7:30. I actually make myself decaf tea with a bit of honey around this time instead of a small snack butI'll have a yogurt or piece of string cheese if I'm hungry.;) I've found that eating 5-6 smaller meals actually helps me eat smaller portions and not be starving when the next meal comes around. When I'm starving, I tend to pig out!

Breakfast at 7 a.m.

Snack at 10 a.m. (Yogurt, piece of fruit with almonds or cheese, etc.)

Lunch at noon

Snack at 2-3 p.m. (veggie or fruit with peanut butter)

Dinner at 5 or 6 p.m.

Snack at 7-8 p.m.

Bed at 10 p.m.

I quit smoking back in August and have been trying to lose the weight I gained from that...plus eat/live better.
I was a sodaholic.
I can't drink tap water at all...but started buying those little powder packets of propel. They come in different flavors and I drink a bunch of those a day. I still drink some juices and I have my OJ every morning.
I started taking vitamins, trying to eat better and joined a gym. I really enjoy the pool and hot tub lol...
I still have a coke every now and again but nothing like what I had been doing.
I am sure you already know that to stop eating foods fools your body into thinking you are starving and it will hold onto what you eat making you gain weight...
So please be careful and I wish you the best of luck.
I have 40lbs to go myself :)

Wow thanks every one seeing a lot of people do this makes me feel better.

And not topoint anyone out but I met zin around a year ago a little longer notreally sure and the way she looks now is how I want to look. She looks great I stopped smoking about 4 months ago the money was not there anymore.

I smoked for ten years. Yes i started when I was ten my oldersister did it and she was cool I worshiped her then. I was up to two packs a day and hubby said something got to give.

I am just doing the water thing because I want to show my self I can do it. And really no water at all. for a little over 2 years I mean I drank it sometimes but it may have been one glass every two weeks.

I am looking into vitamin to. Mom wants me to wait until we go to a doctor. So right now just the water and changing the way I eat to were I am still happy. But I feel better enough.

Good for you!

Cutting out the sugary drinks will definitely help with loosing weight. Each glass or juice/can of pop is usually 150+ calories. 1 cup of white sugar has 770 calories!!! So cutting out all of those is a great start.

I'm addicted to Ice tea(has to be the good host powder kind) and my mom dared me that I couldn't stop drinking it as it was pretty much all I drank. I stopped for 3 months and just put water in my bottle instead. It was hard at first but then it was fine. I started drinking ice tea again but now I use half the amount of powder mix I used to. When I started drinking it again I couldn't believe how sweet I liked it and actually found it gross. Half strenght is much better.

After xmas I decided to make some changes too. I started on a dairy & egg free diet as I had an allergy test and it said those were "sensitive foods". Its been really hard, as cheese is my favorite food but i've stuck to it and I've only caved in twice. I also started exercising more. I've started using the treadmill/ stationary bike 2-3 times a week for atleast 20-30 mins and I'm planning on going back to aquacise 2x a week as I really enjoyed it. The excercising is definitely helping me feel better. I'm not as tired and exhusted all the time.

Good luck
