I'm so afraid Trix hurt himself! Please help me!

I'm crying as we speak. He's just a baby, Maybe about 4 months old I estimate, A Mini Rex (Mixed with something else, but they didn't know what.) and I bought him only on the 24th. He's so skittish that he kept jumping out of my arms and even onto the hard parking lot road at my apartment complex. I mean I can barely afford a vet, probably won't be able to and I don't think I could go back to the pet shop I bought him at, because I didn't pay extra money for the vitamins they wanted me to buy in case I had to return him. I mean I don't wanna return him. I just wanted to see if they could help me with him, but they'd probably just tell me to take him to a vet. I can't though. So please guys gives me some advice and please pray for my baby. I don't want him to die or just get really sick! Bunnies have feelings to and I'm sure he's in pain and it just makes my heartbreak for him! What do I do?! :cry1:

What's wrong with him? You haven't mentioned what makes you think he's hurt. Is he acting differently, has he stopped eating? Is it a leg or his back that you think he has hurt? Is he still pooping, can he hop around? We need more information to be able to help.

Health issues crop up, and you need to be able to afford to deal with them. Not being able to afford a vet can be the difference between life and death for a rabbit, even if it only seems minor.

What's wrong with him? You haven't mentioned what makes you think he's hurt. Is he acting differently, has he stopped eating? Is it a leg or his back that you think he has hurt? Is he still pooping, can he hop around? We need more information to be able to help.

I think he may have a broken or bruised front paw, because when I let him out to hop he can still move a little, but he always tucks his right front paw underneath him whenever I get him out of his cage :cry1:

I also would not have taken him outside like that where he could keep jumping out of your arms. What about a carrier or something safer like that? My mom already says we don't have enough to get him treated right now, but I really love rabbits and wanted one bad. I have another bunny I've had for 2 years, but she isn't that skittish like my new bunny is. I have him in a carrier now. He seems to be okay in every other department just he keeps folding his right front paw underneath him when he moves. I know how to hold a rabbit, but he just couldn't keep still and went a little crazy when I first got him.

IF he has hurt his paw, keep him confined until it heals. Don't let him run around all over the place. Front paws heal just fine in bunnies, just give him some quiet time in his cage without exercise. He might not like it, but it's for his long term gain.

Take this as a time to work on bonding issues. Offer limited amount of treats, hand feed pellets, offer choice hay etc. teach him all good things come from you. Oh thank goodness. I was SO worried. His paw is not swelling. Neither are there any heat or odors. I mean I touched his paw. Nothing really even felt dislocated. Although the other leg felt a little looser than the other one. I don't know if that means anything. I pet him and talk to him daily though. I also make sure he has enough food and water and he ate a piece of lettuce from my hand too.

It looks like his leg is broken. From that angle it looks like it isn't hanging straight, but maybe it's just tucked under him. If it's straight then make sure he stays confined in a small cage for 3-4 weeks and see if it's improving. It's important that he not be able to run or hop around so it isn't injured worse. If it isn't straight, the leg should be x-rayed. A vet could also prescribe pain meds.

I wish I could just take him back to the pet shop and return him, but I didn't pay extra for the vitamins and now they probably won't take him back. I can't take care of him though. I don't have enough money and I didn't know he'd break his leg right on the first night :cry1:

If he were younger you could splint it, but at his age he'll just mess with it and take the wrapping off, unless you put a cone on so he can't. I'm afraid that if it doesn't mend straight the leg will be useless.

If you broke your arm and it was hanging sideways and totally useless and youre in pain would you prefer to be locked in your room?

If it is badly broken... full thickness in a sense.
There is no way she could splint that herself especially if the muscles have contracted and the bones arent in the right place anymore. Especially since the poor rabbits all ready been like this for a few days. That video doesnt look good at all.

Jigzitta, you need to get this animal to a rescue or vet NOW. Get him to somebody who will actually take care of his issue. And either surrender him or work out a payment plan. But you cannot continue to deny him the care he needs.
Owning animals means having to take them to the vet.

He needs a vet. If you can't afford a vet, you shouldn't have him. I'm sorry to be this harsh, but that animal's health comes before what you want.

Awww, he looks so scared with the cone on. So glad you managed to get him to the vet and get the leg splinted It's awful to see an animal in pain like that.

Keep an eye on him with the cone because some rabbits get very scared and can injure themselves further while wearing a cone, he also may have trouble eating and drinking so you'll need to make sure that he has the ability to do both and even hand feed him some. If you're keeping him confined to help him heal you shouldn't have trouble with him injuring himself from wearing the cone because his movement will be restricted. Let us know how it goes

Well I wasn't sure I'd be able to afford it, because it was a little pricey. Not as bad a price as I thought though thankfully. I just couldn't stand to see him in pain. It made me cry, because I know how bad it hurts to break a foot myself.

So now I just have to hand feed him with a spoon. Don't wanna risk taking that cone off and I let him drink out of my other bunnies water bottle.

Poor little bubba - I'm glad you were able to get him the treatment he needs. I know it can be rough, but part of pet ownership is medical care, and that can be quite a hefty unexpected expense at times. Just remember that money can always be put on the backburner to take care of later. The health of your little buddy can't.
