Hugs to you...

No back pain here but a bad knee (surgeries in 2003, 2005 and 2007 - one almost killed me from the resulting infection) and bad elbows - one done, one pending... and still life goes on and I have to be a part of it even if my body has decided otherwise (my Creator and I have a scheduled discussion on the extended warranty on my parts (lungs, pancreas, joints) as I feel I got stuck with a lemon of a body... :) )

Stay as strong as you can and smile, day by day. A smile keeps me going throughout the day... even when I'd rather be saying bad words and retreating into myself.

With winter coming on, you'll appreciate the hair. ;)

I agree with Carroll-Marie in the sense that people don't realize there is more out there than what is prescribed by doctors.

I took vitamin B6 for my bursitis, didn't notice that it worked until I stopped. My doctor told me to eat soy nuts for hot flashes. Worked like a charm. (Although at one point they actually caused hot flashes).

A lot of people dismiss unorthodox or uncommon or non-medical treatments as snake oil, old wives tales or touchy-feely hogwash, but a lot of things work.

Really hope you're feeling better soon!

Right - well, Doctor has signe me off for 2 weeks as of today - until we receive the full results from the mri scan. He's also uped the Buprenorphine patch to 10mg release per hour and given me something called Gabrapentin which is normally used to treat epilepsy but can also be great relief for nerve pain.

Phoned work and Jill was OK would you believe.

I said : "I'm sorry Jill, I know it's come at a rubbish time, but the Dr has signed me off for 2 weeks - blah blah" and she said ok ... but I've told Lynsey (Director of the company) that I am still having my few days off work so Janine will have to do 12 hour shifts.

So - it wasn't as bad as I thought .. and I'm feeling easier in the knowledge that there wot be a bad atmosphere when I return.

Taken to the emergency doctor in chesterfield last night. The pain had spread the the pan relief was doing nothing. He's upped my gabapentin to 200mg 3 times a day so opefully that will help a bit.

I have physio tomorrow so will see how that goes.

My daghter and her boyfriend have been wonderful .. cleaning up and washing for me ... Hollie has even just changed the bedding on my bed so that it's all fresh and clean smelling.:bunnydance:

I used to be on gabapentin but it wasn't really helping. This week my doc switched me to lyrica(pregabalin). Its the newer version of gabapentin and supposedly works better. I'll let you know if it works for me. I also suffer from severe chronic back problems and I also have constant headaches.

My happy rabbit ...

I'm so sorry you're having to go through this.

I've had three back surgeries.... 2 discectomies/laminectomies at L4-L5,and finally a fusion of L4-L5.

I took Gabapentin (aka Neurontin) and it worked wonders. After two weeks it had rid me of all my nerve pain....to the point that I considered cancelling my fusion.

I also found a good online support group....
